Industrial Arts Impact Wrench Hazy Triple IPA (Picked up at Circle Liquor in Somers Point, NJ). A 4 of 4. As you'd expect, this is just bursting with tropical fruit and orange citrus and varied other hop notes in the nose. The body is incredibly well balanced despite it being 10% -- there's a lot of juicy sweetness but also some grain notes behind it, and a firm bitterness alongside the booze towards the finish.
Frost Beer Works Double Shush Imperial IPA (Picked up at Circle Liquors in Somers Point, NJ). A 4 of 4. Really complex hop profile on this with a mix of juicy citrus and lots of tropical fruit as well, and even some resinous notes behind it. Body that’s on the thicker side and a bit sticky. Really great.
Southern Tier Nu Haze IPA (Picked up at Circle Liquors in Somers Point, NJ). A 3 of 4. Smells of citrus and melon and other lighter tropical fruit notes. The body, while hazy, is quite light, and relatively simple. A touch of juiciness in the body, and then a slightly bitter finish that disappears quite quickly.
Toppling Goliath Scorpius Morchella Double IPA (Picked up at Circle Liquors in Somers Point, NJ). A 4 of 4. Lots of grapefruit and orange citrus in the nose, and some sticky lacing that hangs around forever on top of this. Lots of fruit and some interesting slightly acidic notes in the body, as well as some faint booze alongside the bitterness in the finish. Very smooth and drinkable body, and the hop profile only gets more complex as this warms.
Three Floyds Cheer Team Ale (Picked up at Circle Liquors in Somers Point, NJ). A 4 of 4. A nice, big DIPA. Lots of candied orange fruit and tropical fruit in the nose, and much the same in the body with a lot of resinous and herbal notes on the backend. Big, oily, and not the easiest to drink, but delivers quite a bit of hop complexity and rivals some of the best.
Goose Island Lost Palate (Picked up at Circle Liquors in Somers Point, NJ). A 3 of 4. A pretty standard hazy IPA with a nice tropical fruit presence, including the mango present in this beer, but I don’t really pick up the cinnamon. Drinks quite easily, and is a bit light and dry for the style.
Equilibrium Data Points Double IPA (Picked up at Circle Liquors in Somers Point, NJ). A 4 of 4. My first from the brewery, and this is quite excellent. The Mosaic brings lots of bright tropical fruit and some faint berry and herbal notes in the background. You can tell this is bigger and boozy quite easily, and the body has a nice mix of orange, grapefruit bitterness, and more herbal / resinous notes towards the finish. Excellent.
Dogfish Head’s Lupu-Luau IPA (Picked up at Circle Liquors in Somers Point, NJ). A 3 of 4. Thankfully the coconut is nice and mild throughout this, else it would be a bit too weird for my taste. Some nice tropical fruit and other citrus help balance it out up front, and keep the coconut, while clearly present, slightly in the background. Still, a sweetness runs throughout this, never really fully cut by the hops.
