Tuesday Tales: Writing Fire Circle
Tuesday Tales: Writing Fire Circle
Welcome to Tuesday Tales, a weekly blog featuring diverse authors posting excerpts from their works in progress. This week’s prompt is a picture of a fire circle. My snippet is from a paranormal fantasy in which a goddess occasionally inhabits the body of an archaeological assistant. Enjoy the other authors at Tuesday Tales.

“The teary eyed crossing. That moment of recognition, When one battle has been waged and won, And now is the time for me to step into the ring. Eyes watering, Pulse racing, Breath panting. This is the colloseum of our lives. Here we enter alone, But never so. Here we roar and scream and curse the skies. We ask for our hearts back, No, we take our hearts back. We shame those who hurt us, We say what we feel, What society says we must never admit. A crossing from one personal warzone and into a new one. And yet so 25 battles later and we would fight for one another again. Brothers and sisters in spirit. Warriors of the soul and the heart. The entire universe was in that circle with us. Soundtrack to our glory. Ripped off parts of us and nailed them to the floor and the walls. Caressed the faces of our child, Whispered sweet nothings and everythings into the ears of who we love, Said goodbye too too many times, Welcomed back not enough times. I learnt what it is to be understood on that battlefield. Ugly became incandecent beauty, Fear became strength, hopelessness became joy. We were alone and all one. Found wholeness in the holes of our souls. 25 souls raging to be heard to be seen to be loved and understood and accepted, And we won.”

Screen Australia Backs 12 New Film & Television Projects
Whilst some of these we’ve already profiled on The Lowdown Under the biggest one that pops out is Screen Australia backing the TV show development of Tomorrow When The War Began(finally!). The John Marsden series of books had a film made of the first book that earned a $13m Aus cinematic bow in 2010 (That’s a hit, people) but failed to strike it internationally. The talk of a sequel to the film…
