Last week my biggest client put my mindfulness training program on hold due to team changes. When I shared the news with my mentor he asked me how do I deal with disappointment? Two things that came to mind and have helped for many years in dealing with such situations was #1 the circle of focus from Stephen Covey (7 habits) and #2 the mental strategy of acceptance which is a principle I embraced from the Buddhist philosophy. Steve Covey circle is about applying our time and energy in the center green circle (focus) which we have total authority to make things happen. The more we do that the more it grows and start taking over the the circle of influence which is a grey area in terms of our ability to make a difference. On the other hand if one spend energy in the circle of concern instead, which we have no power to influence neither change, no results are achieved other that worry and a shrank circle of focus. So in summary, doing our best in the areas we can make a diference and influence and let of if the rest. ABOUT ACCEPTANCE: "If you can solve the problem, what need is there to worry? If you can't solve the problem, what need is there to worry? When you experience difficulties change it or leave it. But don't start an inner fight about it. Don't make it heavy or solid. It is the way it is. Accept it with an easy going attitude. Expand the acceptance towards yourself. Take it easy, it is good enough. - extracted from POTENTIAL PROJECT MINDFULNESS APP. - #acceptance #stephencovey #stevencovey7habitsofhighlyeffectivepeople #circleoffocus #mentalstrategy #dissapointment #resilience #emotionalinteligence #yantrayogaaustralia (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)
