And here we are. The final performance. It's been a hell of a ride. So much learnt, so much changed, many laughs and a few cries. Once more will we grace the stage and deliver our work. Let's eat it. Thank you to all of those who have come to see us. We appreciate every single one of you.
Week 1 of Performances
We are approaching the last performance of the week (tonight) and both shows have had time to settle into the space. It has been an interesting ride so far with both shows making fine tuned adjustments based off of how they have been functioning with a public audience. We have received some wonderful feedback so far. Here's to the the rest of the run - onwards and upwards, we have a strong mindset to keep both pieces growing as we go.
With both shows finishing tech and having done a dress run yesterday we are well on our way to the opening night on Tuesday.
Citizen puppet - performer update - Tom
Week one has been an eye opening journey for everyone, we started by working with the puppets moving in space without getting off the chairs, it proved difficult as the chairs are hard to move and the style of movement is also very particular. We tried many different things, some which really worked and some which were really funny (but not in a useful way.) We are also working with a character for the puppets, so far working out that it’s not always best to go to the stereotype of the puppet, that opposites are really good to try even if it falls flat on its face, at least you tried. I’m finding the process challenging but really amazing, a puppet is a complex person, as we all our, and it’s the quality in the detail that lifts the puppet from Styrofoam to life, even if they don’t know what to say, they can be still and just be.
