Just listened to "Blind Summit" and something I'm thinking of - in the story itself, Ianto was injected with the Excellium drug, which can create supersoldiers. We're told that it didn't work and that the only impact it had was it giving him back his lost memories.

What if it did work? We know that Ianto has the eidetic memory - what if he didn't have that at birth but gained it through the Excellium Drug?

If so, then it falls into the same category as his love for suit and talent in making coffee - something that was drilled into him by Torchwood, changing him into something different, something loyal, the perfect soldier doing the duties of Queen and Country.

Okay so I'm feeling very normal about how Ianto has a good chunk of his time in London missing from his memories. He can guess what happened to him based on the things he can remember but for the most part, it's lost and buried and part of him just wants to leave it that way.

For me, it makes him way more relatable bcus I have a couple years of my life I can barely remember (tho it was due to stress instead of spy movie shenanigans) and it's honestly rlly comforting that my favourite character also went through that in a way

another piece of blind summit appreciation anyone?

uh..... really wanted to get my feels rocked hard again so i got my hands on machines for the second time

and my god my god blind summit is so good. not the usual "sjsksjsksjsksj-good" but like...... properly well written and perfectly balanced. seriously. listen to this. gareth deserves an award.

(oh, the more i get to know about ianto's life the more heartwrenching his death gets...)

i genuinely love the way this story goes. because it's literally an endless loop of yvonne retconning ianto again and again and again and the scene where he gets flashbacks of erased memories is highkey the best thing ever. and the coffee making scene? masterpiece. ianto wearing corduroy? take all my money for that.

side note: i would be right to suppose that the retconning sequence had a huge impact on his personality, since he never really knew what happened to his dad because his memories were warped, and the amount of times he got drugged had later worsened his ptsd after losing lisa

all stories focuses on ianto's life (even those still unreleased uh-oh big finish) are my undoubted favorites. bring on 2019!
