كوستا برافا، لبنان [Costa Brava, Lebanon] (Mounia Akl, 2021)
Rev. A. Roddan and others distributing food to unemployed men at the City Dump, Vancouver. September 1931.
The topmost photos show Roddan giving out food, while the remainder are a kind of ‘ethnography’ of the shantytown, showing different huts and ‘types’ of unemployed men. The bottommost photo is probably the most ‘public relations’ of these, with Roddan jovially talking with a photogenic unemployed worker.
More information on Roddan here.
These photographs are City of Vancouver Archives, Major Matthews collection, AM54-S4-:

A sarcophagus lid was found in an illegal dump site in Israel. How on earth did this thing get there? It weighs 2 tons, for Pete's sake. You steal it, and then can't find anything to do with it, so dump it in the illegal dump? I have questions, not the least of which is where's the rest of it?
The City Dump 2: Totally Trashed!
In March of 2019 there was "The City Dump", the story of a down and out Slacker and his Dog in Del Sol Valley. This Summer experience the sequel. "City Dump 2: Totally Trashed!", NOW WITH 100% MORE GARBAGE! Thanks to the miracle of Eco Lifestyles, TOOL, and Debug you can practically smell the heaps of trash oozing out of this updated build. City Dump 2: Totally Trashed! Where Filth Reigns Supreme!
As soon as I saw all the lovely debug garbage that came with Eco Lifestyle I knew I was going to revisit my old City Dump build. I also didn’t have TOOL available when I did the original so I was able to do a lot of cool new stuff with the build. (click on images for hi-res version)
You can find the City Dump-Totally Trashed build in my SimDoughnut gallery (user id: simdoughnut). This NoCC Residential build sits on a 50x40 lot in the seedy side of Del Sol Valley. While this build has been thoroughly playtested I strongly recommend enabling the “bb.moveobjects on” cheat prior to placing this build in your game. I hope you have as much fun playing in the filth, as I did creating this filth for you.
Have Fun :)!

The City Dump
Not everything in Del Sol Valley is Glitz, Glamour, Caviar and Dreams. Sometimes even the best laid plans can go awry, and you find yourself living at the City Dump hoping to catch a falling star and rise from the ashes on it. Till then, at least you can find someplace to duck under when it rains, and all the best restaurants in town make daily “deliveries” free of charge.
This is a build I featured as a WIP back when “Get Famous” came out for my “Down and Out in Del Sol Valley” play through. Like many other builds I’ve shown as a WIP, I never got around to sharing it in a timely fashion, but here it is. Better late than never I guess.
In my game it’s the home of “The Dude” and his dog Chartreuse, but it could be used for a number of purposes, and different types of Sims. I was very tempted to add some things from Strangervile to this build before sharing it, but in the end I decided to leave it as I originally created it.
You can find The City Dump in my SimDoughnut gallery (userid:simdoughnut). I created this build on the 50x40 lot in Del Sol Valley as a Residence. This is a NoCC build, and there are no special instructions. I mean it’s a dump, how badly could not using “moveobjects” make it look? I hope you have fun exploring this build, and I’d love to hear and see what you do with it.
Have Fun :)!
