#007 Bumble & Bumble City Swept Finishing Spray
City Swept Finish – Bumble and Bumble
Here is the scenario: the stylist just finished blowdrying your hair and has begun to use a number of delightfully fragrant products on your tresses and you look into the mirror. Wow! This is MY hair?
“We sell these products here, if you want to buy any of the ones I used.”
“Oh. Well thank you, they’re great, but not now.”
And so you sit on it and think about the experience fondly for a minimum of two months. And that product is now stuck in your brain as something you must eventually own. And so at a certain point, you shell out the nearly 30 dollars and buy the stuff.
I say this because obviously it happened to me and I just purchased this too expensive spray. Now to be honest, I am reviewing this without using it for an extending period of time. So this is more my ‘few uses’ feedback.
This product is OK. I bought it under the guise that it would help me have big, textured hair. Sadly, this is not what it does. It can create volume, but it’s more for piece-y, vaguely dirty looking texture. As I’ve mentioned before, I am an avid fan of creating a lot of height at the crown of my head, and here is where this spray failed. The result is a messy, flat-ish look, with a slightly shiny finish. It doesn’t create voluminous hair. For this type of product, I’d say (to myself), stick to their Thickening Dryspun Finish, which is really made for volume.
However, I am not totally bashing this product. Ultimately, it is a cool spray and great for adding some texture and grit, with a smoother finish. Think Olsen Twins. Use it after you blowdry your hair (thus, finishing spray) for something a little more styled and messy. That sounded like a contradictory sentence, but messy styled is a thing! I imagine it would also be good to use with a curling iron in place of hair spray. It has a light hold, so I’d use it if you want waves more than Bat Mitzvah curls.
I would recommend buying a smaller version of this first to see if it’s for you! Hopefully I will learn from my mistakes.
P.S. I’m not sure how helpful this ‘review’ actually was since I was tailoring it to my specific experience, but at the very least, I hope I’ve entertained you.
