Echo looked at the container of food placed at her door step, she knew who it was from. Sarah enjoyed making her meals after long shifts, which saved her from spending more money on fast food. Probably saved her future health expenses from consuming endless grease. It had been another long shift....she's so tired.
Silently, she takes the container, enters her apartment, and goes to text Sarah a thank you, but....she recalls what the princess had said to her.
"You don't have to take this..."
Then there were Paimon's words....it would be so easy. She'd lose her apartment, she has a fairly decent amount of savings, but it'd basically be placing a gigantic target on her back but then again....she recalls a certain broadcast. An imp stood up to a Sin, of all people....what's her excuse? She's such a coward...she has options....why can't she take them? Why can't she....? If not for her....more time off meant she could at least....take Sarah out. Repay her for her kindness....
.....she can't do this anymore. She turns, booking it down to the bottom of her apartment complex, she works an ATM to withdrawal her savings
Txt ; Thank you for the food, it was a long night.
Txt ; I'm taking your advice.
Txt ; If I'm not at the Hazbin Hotel tomorrow thank you for everything.
That's all she gets before Echo slams her phone down and then stomps on it to break it, ensuring Vox can't track her. Next, she just had to make it official, wrangled the soul contract out of her purse. Why did she have it on her? Well, maybe she had been contemplating it a lot recently and while she still has the courage she's going to do it.
She holds it, her eyes glowing with magic and the text lights up. Magical chains visible around the fish demoness, she's following Paimon's advice. If she deems Vox as not providing for her...it'll count as him voiding it. She really can't turn back now.
Light frantically consumes the paper, burning it outright. The flash of magic takes her off guard, knocking her small frame back and she falls flat on the ground, the chains shattering. A wave of relief as it feels like her chest is tighter...stunned...actually wondering if she did what she thought she did. And then it's overwhelmed by pure panic. Vox will realize soon if he hasn't already. Seizing the opportunity she stumbles to her feet and runs across pentagram city, the hazbin hotel isn't that far but it will take her a bit on food. Technology is everywhere and the moment Vox realizes...
She can't hear his voice but as she runs past a display show various TVs turn a menacing red and she knows it's only a matter of time.
The voice rings out widely, some sinners cover their ears while the fish demoness doesn't hesitate for a moment. She can't turn back. She can't be scared. She can't panic. Someone's waiting for her, she needs to get somewhere safe.
She skids to the front of the hotel, frantically banging on the front door. It's locked, predicably. It's late, Echo continuously slams her fist against them, begging that luck was on her side for a change, please, just this once-
A shadow loomed over Echo.
