In February, we've been practicing for our upcoming games (lacrosse). I think I have improved a lot more and I hope we can at least score one goal in the next game.

Jan 2016
In January, I played in my first lacrosse game against HKIS. We weren't the best, losing 12-0, but I had a lot of fun.
October 2015
Buddy Reading finally started in October. It was difficult finding volunteers as many students have been busy, especially the Year 13s with their IAs. However, Sakshi and I were able to find some dedicated volunteers and we are very thankful for them during the sessions. It required a huge team effort to give the kids a great time reading and learning. Lacrosse has been very fun. We have many new players and it's been great being able to play with more people, playing 5-on-5s.
May 2015
In lacrosse, our team has improved drastically in terms of skill and knowledge on the game. We are much more aware when we make passes or when we move across the field, making more precise decisions during games. We have continued learning new skills such as catching the ball with our least dominant hand.
February 2015
For the month of February Lacrosse, Film Society, and English Playstations still went on. We haven’t learned anything new in lacrosse, we’ve just ben developing our basic skills but it’s been very fun! I haven’t hurt anyone else after injuring Joylynn’s finger which is good but other girls have gotten a few hits during practice but
no pain no gain
I have really enjoyed lacrosse so far but I do feel that I get a bit competitive, especially when my team is down a few points, when playing but it’s all part of the experience!
Film Society hasn’t been on consistently since other events have been popping up during that time however the sessions that did happen were very fun and enjoyable! We are currently watching a Brazilian film whose name I don’t remember but it’s very exciting!!
As for the English Playstations, we are lacking a lot of volunteers but the people in my group, Ashley and Kania, have decided to just keep it at 3 volunteers in our class since we feel that we know the kids better after having met them in the first term and been able to develop a closer relationship. We are doing really well and it’s been very fun! It hasn’t been much of a challenge but trying to help out all the kids when we do the worksheets has become a little more difficult but they have been really great! A lot of the other kids in the class often help their friends who are struggling a little which was very nice to see.
Lacrosse: December 2014 - January 2015
[I was unable to attend the 2 Lacrosse practices we had in December]
I am feeling a lot more confident playing lacrosse and I have definitely engaged more when we play. I am planning on getting a proper lacrosse stick to enhance my play. My team and I have also gotten more aware of the rules so the games have run a lot more smoothly after a few months of practice.
Lacrosse: October-November 2014
(We did not have many sessions in October for lacrosse due to Challenge Week and Half-Term Break)
Our playing skills are definitely improving, with us starting to use proper sticks more often, with us requiring to have a mouth guard every practice now. Things are getting a lot more physical during lacrosse, with more offensive/defensive drills, helping us get used to the rules and physicality of the game.
Target: Practice my checking
Lacrosse: September 2014
Lacrosse is a new sport that I don't particularly have much knowledge of, only watching a few games on TV and hearing about it but I did not actually know what the game was like. Because of this, I developed an interest towards the sport since it was one that was more of a mystery to me than the others such as soccer, rugby, basketball, etc.
Session 1 and 2 (September 8 and 15)
For the first two sessions, we used the soft sticks and balls and started to learn how to throw and catch the ball with our sticks as well as learning how to pick the balls up from the ground. At first it was difficult but after some practice with it I got the hang of it.
Target: Be more confident in throwing and catching a ball
Session 4 and 5
For these sessions, we looked more into the rules of the games and the penalties. After going through the rules after our warm up, we got did some 3 on 2 work, slowly increasing the size of the number of defense and offensive players. It was really enjoyable since I was able to understand the game in more detail as it was first-hand experience and being able to play the sport with my friends made this learning process fun.
I was also able to meet my target and I am feeling much more confident in throwing and catching the ball when we do 3 on 2s or 5 on 5s, often asking for the ball and giving out several good passes to my teammates. I am more confident in using the soft sticks but now we have had the opportunity to use the proper lacrosse sticks and I would like to gain confidence in using those as well.
Target: Work on my shooting accuracy and making sure I follow the rules to avoid drawing major/minor penalties and be more confident in using the proper lacrosse sticks.
