In February, we've been practicing for our upcoming games (lacrosse). I think I have improved a lot more and I hope we can at least score one goal in the next game.

Feb 2016
In February, we've been practicing for our upcoming games (lacrosse). I think I have improved a lot more and I hope we can at least score one goal in the next game.
Jan 2016
In January, I played in my first lacrosse game against HKIS. We weren't the best, losing 12-0, but I had a lot of fun.
Dec 2015
We had two sessions at our new center. Thankfully most of the volunteers from our previous center were able to volunteer at the new one. We all enjoyed being able to read to the children and seeing their linguistic skills and confidence in English develop. The lacrosse team has been very excited as we are now part of the Hong Kong Lacrosse League. This year, we are able to play a couple of games and be able to put our new skills to work!
Nov 2015
Our Buddy Reading session ended at the Kowloon City center but Sakshi and I have been planning our next session for the new center. I have been improving my lacrosse skills and I think I am getting better at cradling.
October 2015
Buddy Reading finally started in October. It was difficult finding volunteers as many students have been busy, especially the Year 13s with their IAs. However, Sakshi and I were able to find some dedicated volunteers and we are very thankful for them during the sessions. It required a huge team effort to give the kids a great time reading and learning. Lacrosse has been very fun. We have many new players and it's been great being able to play with more people, playing 5-on-5s.
Sep 2015
During September, Sakshi and I were planning for our Buddy Reading sessions. We had to go to the Kids4Kids office and plan out each session which includes what books we'll be reading, what icebreakers we'll be playing, and what we'll be doing for arts and crafts. It was very fun being able to take charge of the planning stages and we feel these sessions will be much more fun as there is more organization and planning going into the sessions. We have had some difficulties finding volunteers and there were some complications along the way but our first Buddy Reading session was quite successful.
August 2015
Sakshi and I have began organizing the upcoming Buddy Reading program in Kowloon City. We have been in constant contact with Kids 4 Kids, relaying ideas and meeting up to discuss.
May 2015
In lacrosse, our team has improved drastically in terms of skill and knowledge on the game. We are much more aware when we make passes or when we move across the field, making more precise decisions during games. We have continued learning new skills such as catching the ball with our least dominant hand.
April 2015
In April we finished off Buddy Reading and it was such a rewarding experience, being able to read and promote literacy among young children. I have developed leadership skills as I had to lead the group and constantly communicate with them. I have also finished the English Playstations and it was fantastic experience as I was able to exercise my communication skills as well as potential teaching ones as I am planning on going into early childhood education in the future.
During film society we watched The Shining. We also started watching a Brazilian film, City of God, and I have been learning more about Brazil and their various social issues.

March 2015
In March I was able to showcase my leadership skills as Buddy Reading was entering its second term, with me as the leader. It has been really fun so far and all of us seem to be really enjoying ourselves, reading and playing with the children. We have also noticed some progress with the children as they are becoming more confident speaking English and seem a lot more responsive compared with the first few sessions. As for lacrosse I have been improving and refining my skills and it's been really fun! We still do the same drills but the 5 on 5's have become much more intense as our skills improve. The English Playstations have also been going really well. Though I am currently working in a group of 3, we have managed really well with the kids and there hasn't been much difficulty so far.

[CAS PROJECT] English Playstations: March 2015
There are only 3 volunteers (including me) in my group but we’re still working really well! We’ve become a lot more efficient and our teamwork has improved greatly. Our relationship with the children has also developed and we have a clearer understanding on where the children’s English levels are at, making it a lot easier teaching them.
February 2015
For the month of February Lacrosse, Film Society, and English Playstations still went on. We haven’t learned anything new in lacrosse, we’ve just ben developing our basic skills but it’s been very fun! I haven’t hurt anyone else after injuring Joylynn’s finger which is good but other girls have gotten a few hits during practice but
no pain no gain
I have really enjoyed lacrosse so far but I do feel that I get a bit competitive, especially when my team is down a few points, when playing but it’s all part of the experience!
Film Society hasn’t been on consistently since other events have been popping up during that time however the sessions that did happen were very fun and enjoyable! We are currently watching a Brazilian film whose name I don’t remember but it’s very exciting!!
As for the English Playstations, we are lacking a lot of volunteers but the people in my group, Ashley and Kania, have decided to just keep it at 3 volunteers in our class since we feel that we know the kids better after having met them in the first term and been able to develop a closer relationship. We are doing really well and it’s been very fun! It hasn’t been much of a challenge but trying to help out all the kids when we do the worksheets has become a little more difficult but they have been really great! A lot of the other kids in the class often help their friends who are struggling a little which was very nice to see.
