i wanted to ask you something. how did louis get harry w the azoff’s to manage him. like how do they have h as a client but not louis? ik louis is selfless and always wants the best for h. even if it means sacrificing his own career. i just don’t understand how louis couldn’t get better management for himself when it comes to his career. ik you’ve mentioned louis has burned some bridges but i’m just confused how he helped harry but not himself.

Hi-this is a good question and the short answer is: it's complicated. I also really, really need to do a late 2014-early 2015 timeline that should explain some of this. Here's what I think happened under the cut:

In November 2014, there were rumors the boys were negotiating a new contract and that the Azoffs had been brought in as "advisors". 4 of 5 wanted to end their relationship with Modest but 1 didn't and he pitched a holy fit about it too so the deal didn't get done. However, Louis knew he couldn't let the Azoffs slip out of their grasp so easily so he basically said "I'll accept whatever bullshit gets thrown my way by SC/MM if you take on Harry as a solo artist" Bc the one who pitched a fit made it everyone's problem and SC/MM were royally pissed that they got outplayed by the boys (mostly Louis), so SOMEONE had to "pay". With the Azoffs, there were also plans for H/L to do a soft "coming out" but this killed that too; if you weren't here, November 2014 was called "no-chill November" bc Harry "came out" about 1000 times that month lol. As an aside: I think this is also where Zayn decided he was gonna peace out bc they filmed the perfume commercial around this time w only the 4 of them.

So Louis said he would "take one for the team" but I'm not sure he knew HOW BAD it would get, ie. babygate. Remember around this time we get Bullshit 2.0, the day after Louis wore a shirt with a rainbow on it. So even with all of this, Louis still said "fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" lol.

I don't think Louis necessarily sacrificed his career for Harry but I think that the timeline of the 1D boys' solo careers was shaped by all of this. Like Niall and Harry were first and the rest had to wait; Niall had MM on his side (and still does) and Harry had the Azoffs. I'm also 99% sure that this is all still connected to SC but that's another story for another day.

That's the TLDR of it all but there's loads more **runs off to start making that 2014-15 timeline** lol
