So I calculated out the survival chance of clan Lavellan through Inquisition and it's about 5% chance of getting to the two survival endings rather than any of the eight dead clan endings.

One misconception about Clan Lavellan being killed off is that it was Cullen’s fault.

Its actually Josephine who gets them killed.

When you get to the final table mission, she wants to “negotiate” with the noble who want to use Lavellan and the other elves as a scapegoat.

Cullen suggests fortifying the gates, which saves them.

Josie will get them all slaughtered.

Being nice isn’t always good.

Veilguard didn’t recognize that, it seems.

A detailing of the Saving Lavellan war table missions for fic writing purposes:

Mission 1 - Clan Lavellan wants to know if the Inquisitor is being held against their will. (Leliana)

Mission 2 - The clan had to flee to a safer area because of the rifts spread across the land, but now "bandits" are taking advantage of the clan's vulnerability and they need help. (Cullen)

If you go down the Cullen fork (you don't learn that the mercenaries were hired, but it's quite obvious):

Mission 3 - Wycome's duke is a scheming bitch who's working with the Venatori, and we must kill this infiltrator. We learn that the Venatori were planting red lyrium in the human water wells to test if they would become super soldiers like the Templars. (Leliana)

Mission 4 - The Wycome Nobles are going through red lyrium withdrawal and are messing with the townsfolk. We get the Dalish in to calm the nerves using magic. Doing so leads to the death of the Duke and unrest amongst the nobility, but earns the sympathy of the merchants and townsfolk. (Leliana)

Mission 5 - The nobles spread lies about the elves around the Free Marches that put both the clan and the city elves at risk. Something must be done to keep the other cities from invading Wycome. We fortify the city, and the Inquisition presence stops the outside forces who promise to leave the city alone. A city council of elves and humans is formed to rule the city. (Cullen)
