🐈 i made a (fork) of the ClanGen cat maker!

hi again Tumblr! so I've been working on a little fork of the popular cat maker for my server (The Withering), that runs on the popular ClanGen MegaMerge sprites, and I finally want to show it off. it's free(and forked from the original), there's nothing to download, you just open it and start making cats.

some stuff you can do:

🎨 build a cat from a genuinely huge pile of parts (that lock incompatibles smartly!) (vanilla, Sparkle, Lifegen, all the 'mod' pelts), then paint on top of it with an actual little pixel editor if you want to get specific.

👶 pick two cats and see what kittens they'd have. you can pin the babies you like and reroll the rest until the litter feels right

🌳 grow a whole family tree, breed cats right inside it, and hover over anyone to light up their ancestors and descendants

everything shares one gallery too, so a cat you save in the maker shows up in the predictor and the tree without any fuss. you can also export your cats and trade them with friends.

it's a fork built on top of CrazythecatDraws' MegaMerge maker and the original cgen-tools one, sprites are by the ClanGen team. please keep it non commercial, and credit ClanGen for the art, that's the only ask 💛

This isn't actually relevant to Rainy Days specifically, but I've been debating working on a "Mod Maker" mod that makes it easier for people to make their own mods without having to learn how to code... I think it'd be super fun and I'd love to see people use it, but I'm hesitant to put more on my plate right now.

Would anyone actually use a "Mod Maker"? For reference, these are the first features I'd want to include in it:

- A whole overhaul of how sprites work to make adding new colors, pelts, poses, & accessories much easier (major change would be using hex codes to generate colors instead of having to redraw every pelt per color) + a screen for adding in new hex codes & spritework

- An updated event & patrol editing screen that adds events to a new file separate from base game so that you can download multiple mods that use this Mod Maker without having to manually edit everything into the same file

(For context, this is what the event editor currently looks like in-game without my changes):

In the future, I'll consider more features, like an easier way to add camps & patrol art, an easier way to add new traits & skills, etc., but for now these would be my main focus.

Also, if I do make this Mod Maker, I would totally test it out by making my own mod separate from Rainy Days with it 👀 Maybe a "Rainy Days Lite" that's more of an expansion on base game instead of a total overhaul

After a particularly controversial decision, MagpieStar is called into question. The clan fills with whispers of whether or not he is fit to lead. There are clan members both in agreement and disagreement of this new policy.

“May all cats old enough to fetch their own water gather under The Red Rock for a clan meeting.”

“I’ve come to the decision that in order to strengthen our clan we must lower our defenses when speaking with outsiders. Those found fit to join shall be invited in… strength in numbers.”

Many cats are suspicious of letting strangers into the clan. Does strength lay in numbers? Or in a small, trusted, close-knit community?

still new to this whole comic thing, hopefully as time goes on they will get better in quality

also hoping to find an easy way to add text soon so it’s easier to read, and so i don’t make so many spelling mistakes lol, procreates text tool sucks tho
