I won't be surprised! I was fully under the impression that Froggy had abused Clare and was actually Rex's dad as well when they first introduced him (why did Clare get him sent to prison? Why was she scared of him? Why didn't she like it when he called her "Clarey-bear" or whatever it was? Nothing added up, and having Fraser be Rex's father felt like it was for shock value when Froggy would have made a little more sense and could have even tied into Clare lying back in 2005 that Fraser had sexually abused her; she could either have lied about who did it, or maybe she couldn't remember who it was, like Grace didn't). I also wouldn't be surprised if Sully was conceived through rape. They had Froggy be all disgusted with what Sully did, but as has been said before, that could easily just come down to the fact that he did it to a man (same for Griff with Dodger). It's a bit odd that literally everyone in the family is a sex offender except for Froggy? I'm not buying that. The man is surrounded by them, his associates very much have been implied to be rapists as well (and ones who would expose a child to that, no less), so yeah, I don't buy the good guy thing. It would make like 0 sense for them to retcon it at this point now that he's dead, Sully's in prison, Rex is potentially dead, and Clare's... somewhere, but it's a very Hollyoaks thing to do so I don't doubt they would

I enjoy the scene where Dodger is heading off with Clare and Sienna is appalled and saying he can’t trust her. He snarks back saying he can’t trust his own family right now, Clare can’t be any worse.

He’s undercover and all, but not wrong with that line. There have been many times he can’t trust his own family.

if we were going to keep one of the villains in the trafficking story, I’d rather have kept Clare than Rex

Oooh yeah, that was a great scene. He definitely wasn't wrong. And yeah, Clare would have been a much better villain to keep around, she was a lot more interesting, at least, and I love all the ties she has to other characters - the Savage-Blakes because of Tori/Dodger/the trafficking, the fact that she's the reason Doug and Leanne (and kind of Ash) died (and also Dodger was caught in that explosion lol), her long-term beef with Mercedes and Warren. And I just like her being around because it reminds me of Max, and I miss him 😭

Oh, that's interesting! I suppose it depends on everything that's happened in this AU - did Clare still have Tori?Did Dodger still sleep with her for info? 👀 I could see them being slightly disturbed by their uncle's very active sex life with three of his colleagues xD

The Clare stuff hits different on the rewatch post assault - it feels like he didn’t originally intend for things with her to go as far as they did but once they did he couldn’t back out and possibly felt as though he had to (which he didn’t seem bothered by which makes me wonder was it the first time he’d had to sleep with a mark for the job? With his murky past it seems as though the police used him for some murky stuff so it could track) but now post the rape it feels ickier somehow.

It definitely feels ickier with his rape in mind :( It does seem like he wasn’t too bothered by using sex as a means to an end for the investigation, which could absolutely be because he’d done it before or because he didn’t view it as too big of a deal. But yeah, I imagine he doesn’t feel great about it now :(

Also, there’s a connection somewhere in my brain about Rex kind of being the one to bring Dodger back to the village, and then him having to pretend to be interested in Clare for information, and then everything happening with Sully. He can’t catch a break from that family.

Sorry if this is dumb but how did anyone know about Clare being "killed"? Was it cause the police were already called after she took Joseph and Tori?

I think so? I'm a little fuzzy on the details as well to be honest xD They knew Clare was there, and I guess Sienna was worried that Clare's body would resurface, so saying that Clare just ran away wouldn't work, and it might have been more complicated to keep that lie up? If I'm wrong and they actually explained it better, please feel free to correct me xD
