This week for #tbt -- a rare shot of Nez at the pedal steel guitar, circa 1968 (photographer unknown). “I played steel guitar and rhythm guitar for the Byrds at a concert in Berkeley, California. People asked me if my amps were turned on, you know? Did I really play or was it all for show? The Byrds certainly didn’t need me to stand around on stage and do nothing. Roadmaster, 1973 A&M Records. After White Light Gene was in the studio to begin work on his next album with the help of his brother Rick Clark, Byron Berline, 'Sneaky' Pete, Mike Clarke, Clarence White and others. Unfortunately, the recordings which were being produced by former engineer Chris Hinshaw, were put to a halt by A&M after completing only 8 tracks. Former Byrds manager Jim Dickson finished the album a year later by remixing the existing songs and adding tracks previously recorded with Gene's former Byrds bandmates. The finished album was released to the foreign markets only. Christian Parker Tribute Album - The Byrds

The Byrds were pioneers in the 1960s, creating the musical genre "folk-rock" which has inspired countless artists for over 50 years. We decided to produce a tribute album to The Byrds, focusing on the dynamics of Roger McGuinn & Clarence White. "Tulsa County" was originally released on the album The Ballad of Easy Rider in 1968.
