This week for #tbt -- a rare shot of Nez at the pedal steel guitar, circa 1968 (photographer unknown). “I played steel guitar and rhythm guitar for the Byrds at a concert in Berkeley, California. People asked me if my amps were turned on, you know? Did I really play or was it all for show? The Byrds certainly didn’t need me to stand around on stage and do nothing. The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Rock [NEW 1978 Edition] - Phil Ochs. Born Dec. 19, 1940 in El Paso, #philochs was sent to military academy, following the family tradition, before leaving to study journalism at Ohio State University.
