Back here at Gillman Barracks for MBBTSG

Makanlah Buah-Buahan Tempatan Singapura; celebrates the special moments or memories we all share together in Singapure. It is also a collaborative endeavor of local creative individuals to promote local fruits, as well as to rally the nation to appreciate consume locally crafted art. After all, art is also one of the fruits of our homeland. 

I also stared at Underscore Mag for awhile, imagining if I ever truly work there. I would probably be living my dream, working towards my own studio. Damn, it's nice to dream on... If you're in the area, do head to Gillman Barracks, awesome art exhibits awaits you. Hey, legend has it, they serve Ramen Burger around the area! Tell me if you wanna go there, let's have tea :)

Perks of having a friend who love design in general.

Your birthday cards would be the best ever. Beautifully written inside a Pantone Card. This december, Charissa and I chose an unique card for the birthday girl, Mekko Yeo.

It was pretty much everything that I want in a card. (hint hint) I have this theory on gifting is that you give others something that you really love (not the other way round) so you're practically giving a part of you to them. So, Mekko, if you're reading this. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE TOUCHED AND CRYING... 

Jokes aside, what's Pantone you might ask? The term "Patone" is actually a company that came up with the best PMS in the world. (yes PMS)The Pantone Matching System aproprietary used in a variety of industries, primarily printing, though sometimes in the manufacture of colored paint, fabric, and plastics (got it from wiki).

My obsession with Social Media continues. 

Have you ever felt ever so helpless about your addiction to the holy trinity of my generation? The holy trinity, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Well, I am. It has became a habit, but if only I knew how to make my content awesome on it. I first went to one of my favourite inspiration site called Visual.ly (anything awesome, must share). Over there, you can find countless beautiful info graphics. I chance upon this gorgeous one on social media. Indeed, slideshare has taken the powerpoint geeks by the storm. Have you been on Ogilvy's slideshare site? Quality dosage of visual orgasm.  Truth be told, I have trying to keep my audience and readers engage but in vain, so what is the problem? I went to google how I can make my blog awesome and head on to slideshare where I found Pat Law. Probably, on of my inspiration figure in life. Her take on self reliance was off the roof, I'm quite the follower on her blog Blankanvas as well. Some deep points that I need time to absorb and apply to my tumblr indeed.

Logging onto the dashboard, check out what I saw. Tumblr's term and conditions page. I am convinced it is probably the only T&C worth reading. Look at what they are saying about my love, Benedict. That's gold.

Have you ever been so irritated with not being able to find the perfect calendar for the new year? Loaded with excessive unnecessary information to fill up, seriously, do you think I would know what's my insurance number? Why would I put it in a planner I would change yearly?

If you have ever had these thoughts flash past your brain whenever you open up a planner, welcome to my world. You are probably the sister of my soul. Rants aside, the beauty of being (or trying to be) a designer is the ability to make something for something that's irritating you.

One of my favourite designers speaks the truth about the world. There's not one solution in the world that would fit all, so you should be responsible for the things that you use. Push for innovation and stop complaining, each time you complain, make a conscious effort to think of ways to do otherwise.

One of my new year's resolution is to make my own planner. Collaboration with Hannah find her at yaysaturday  I was so inspired by Couple Design founded 2007 as a strategic graphic design studioin Singapore. Their work for G2000 anniversary was so slick and clean. I'll definitely want to go back in time to get it.  Their work in 2011 can be found here I got to work promptly and you can see my book making process for the prototype. Have you ever wondered where you got your name from?

I am back again at one of my favourite place in Singapore, the National Library. Located at the 10th floor, Lee Kong Chian Reference Library, you will get to see some of the artefacts curated to paint your roots as a Singaporean. Whether you are a Chinese, Malay, Indian or Eurasian, you played a huge role in our national identity.  Roots: Tracing Family Histories is definitely the exhibit you should check out if you're looking for inspirations that strikes a chord with your heartstring with a tinge of nostalgia...

The exhibit will be on till 16 February.

Welcome to the world of the illustrators. 

Truth be told, I can't draw for nuts and I've slowly come to terms with this fact. Why am I here at FLABSLAB then? Featuring my fabulous of a friend, Jenson, I tagged along to FLABSLAB's F**king Friday, pretty much a chill out, hang out, draw out event. Not exactly exclusive, but everyone pretty much knew everyone. 

Just a short introduction to FLABSLAB, (though truth be told I'm not exactly sure what they do) you could head down to their Facebook site and their quirky paragraph on their "about" section and you'll understand they're just curators of awesomeness all around. 

I entered into a world of doodle orgasm. 

I kid you not, everyone could just grab a sharpie or coptic marker and start waving them like ****ing magic. I met one of the coolest illustrators named Marina and chatted. She introduced us to people around and made us felt in place for once.

Overall, it was intimidating for a nobody to enter (well, I was shamelessly trying to not be awkward). Yet, you have this overwhelming feeling and motivation to be somebody. 

I may not be the best illustrator, but here's to my journey to become a kickass designer. If you're here with me, dream on and most importantly, live on!
