Tommy Felix Rayburn, 91, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 29, 2020. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 5, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram at 10:00 followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born in Meridian, Mississippi, he was a graduate of Bob Jones University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored for over 65 years in churches throughout Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lois Steed Rayburn; parents, Merida Felix Rayburn and Grace Evelyn Boggs Rayburn, and son-in-law Lanny Robinson. He is survived by Daughters Susan Robinson of Raymond, Ann (Tim) LeVan of Maineville, OH, and Melanie (Walter) Plummer of Raymond; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Elizabeth Ann “Libby”
Johnson was born Dec. 1, 1929, in Athens. She was the daughter of the late Harry C. Sr. and Chita Elizabeth Sugart Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harry C. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Mary E. Johnson, and James Emmette Johnson. She attended Forrest Hills Elementary, McMinn County High School, where she was football queen, and graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 1951. She taught in elementary schools in Chattanooga, Athens, Ingleside School, and for the Department of Defense Schools overseas in Japan and Germany during the early years after her college graduation. She went back to Japan in the 1970s to do missionary work teaching the Japanese English, as well as introducing her students to the Christian faith. Returning home to Athens, she began teaching Bible classes in schools in McMinn, Meigs and Monroe counties; a career that spanned over 50 years. She retired in 2018, but continued to attend those classes which had been taught as an after school club until three months before her death.
Libby was a person who lived her life as a committed Christian. She was a witness to her faith, sharing the Bible stories and lessons through her studies and teaching. She was always happiest in all aspects of her life in activities that shared her faith, whether at her church, First Baptist in Athens, her Bible classes and her work with the International Club she initiated to welcome foreigners who moved in our community. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Hazel Cannon Johnson; five nieces and one nephew; and all who knew and loved her from her lifetime of teaching.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Athens at a later date to be announced. The family suggests memorials be made to Christ Legacy Academy, 625 S. MCBAIN — Margaret Jacqueline Knott Sweet, age 89 of McBain, passed away at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids on January 31, 2020. Margaret was born in Detroit on May 11, 1930, daughter of Andrew and Pearl L. (Selby) Knott. She grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from Cass Technological High School. She focused on Art and Design. She then attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, North Carolina to further her studies in art. While there she met James D. Sweet, a Bible student and Preacher Boy. They were married on June 22, 1951 in Detroit and joyfully celebrated their marriage for over 62 years. Pastor Jim passed away on Oct. 18, 2013.
She is survived by her six children, Tim (Karen). Tom (Gail), John (Diana), Mary (Mike), Paul (Danielle), and Priscilla and 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
During her more than 62 years of ministry she stood by her husband’s side faithfully as a pastor’s wife in 10 Michigan churches. Together they served as Jim preached in the many churches throughout Michigan and Ohio. He served as the director of Forest Haven Bible Camp and ministered on a mission trip to the Philippines. In Margaret’s earlier years she was a substitute school teacher in Whittemore Prescott and the North Central Christian Academy. Margaret led in several prayer groups and counseled young people.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, siblings, Donna (Ed) and Dorothy (John).
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5., at 2 p.m. at the McBain Baptist Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the McBain Baptist Church Missionary Fund, the Timothy Fund or the Museum and Gallery at Bob Jones University.
PETERS Sr., Jack Klyne Age 97, of West Milton, Ohio, met Jesus face to face on October 22, 2019.
Jack was born on October 31, 1921 in Roanoke, Virginia to Alice (Daniel) and Jesse Peters. He was married in Roanoke, Virginia on November 6, 1946 to Stellena Maxine Mustard and they shared nearly 64 years together.
Jack and Maxine are the parents of two boys, Jack Jr. (Deborah), Steve (Sue) and one very special daughter, Dawn, nine grandchildren, Tarah (Matthew) Hoffland, John (Andrea) Peters, Suzanne (Nathan) Ryerson, Rachel Peters, Steve Jr. (Cherith) Peters, Scott (Jessica) Peters, Stewart (Bethany) Peters, Sarah (Robert) Steiger, Seth (Ashley) Peters and 38 great-grandchildren.
Jack has degrees from Bob Jones University (Class of 1958) and Grace Theological Seminary. Prior to his college education he was employed by Norfolk & Western Railroad. After his seminary training, Jack pastored Grace Brethren Churches in Hagerstown, Maryland (Calvary, Maranatha), Ashland, Ohio, Ft Lauderdale, Florida and associate position in West Milton, Ohio.
Jack served our country during WWII in the Navy aboard the battleship USS Idaho. They were in seven campaigns against the Japanese. It was while Jack was in the Navy that his good friend, Wayne Snell, led him to faith in Jesus on October 26, 1942. Jack was marvelously born again and the rest of his life was sharply impacted by a lifetime of ministry serving his Savior. God gifted Jack with a passion of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all who came across his path. Jack's life verse is Psalm 40:2-3: "He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what He has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord."

LEESVILLE--Mrs. Esteen Price McAlister passed away on June 11, 2019 at the age of 89. Born in Washington, D. C. to Bernice Garrison Price and Esters Henry Price, she has one sister, Connie Price Robinson of Ooltewah, Tennessee. Mrs. McAlister graduated from Bob Jones University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and in 1976 from the University of South Carolina with a Master of Education degree. She was a teacher of English and reading at Batesburg-Leesville High School for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1994.
Mrs. McAlister was an accomplished pianist and organist, playing the organ for many years at First Baptist Church of Batesburg, where she was a life-long and active member. Mrs. McAlister also played the organ in many churches in the Batesburg-Leesville area. She sang and toured with the Ridge Choral Society and had the opportunity to travel to Russia with the Ridge Choral Society in 1991. A life-long member of ADK (Alpha Delta Kappa) educational sorority, Mrs. McAlister actively participated and served in offices and many capacities of ADK. Mrs. McAlister was also an active life-long member and participant in Alph Tau, an educational sorority.
Mrs. McAlister is predeceased by her husband, Charles M. McAlister, who passed on January 17, 2017. Surviving are their children: Charles (Chuck) E. McAlister (Janice), Sharmen Oswald (Wallace), Brian McAlister (Roberta) and Lisa McAlister. Mrs. McAlister was a grandmother to nine grandchildren: Chris McAlister (Brandy), Jeff McAlister, Heather Kanipe, Carissa Ellison (Robbie), Aubrey Steele (Josh), Ethan Oswald, Michelle Brown (Matt), Karen Butler (predeceased) and Stephen Butler. Mrs. McAlister was also a great-grandmother to seven great- grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McAlister will be at First Baptist Church of Batesburg on Sunday, June 16th 2019 at 3:00 with burial at Ridge Crest Memorial Park of Batesburg-Leesville. Donald D. Jaquish Sr., 94, beloved by friends and treasured by family, passed away peacefully at home November 15th, 2019.
Don was born in Eau Claire May 2, 1925 to Clarence and Evelyn Jaquish. During his childhood he lived in numerous cities across America as his father was a heavy-equipment mechanic for the creation of rural electric powerline corridors. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1943, and was employed by J. I. Case Company of Racine, WI, building aircraft components for the war effort before enlisting in the army in 1944. He served in France and Belgium, and fought through the Battle of the Bulge. As 1st Scout, 2nd Division, 23rd Infantry, Co. B, he distinguished himself on the battlefield, and was awarded two Bronze Stars for bravery.
Following WWII, Don married Eunice Tandberg of Colfax June 22, 1947, moving to S. Carolina to attend college at Bob Jones University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1952. Upon graduation they returned to Eau Claire where he worked for Presto Industries and U.S. Rubber before moving to Racine, WI in 1965 to work again for Case Co. as a systems engineer. In 1985 he was given early retirement and he and Eunice moved back to their family farm outside Eau Claire, starting a new life as retirees, engaging in volunteer ministries wherever needed. Don served at Eau Claire Wesleyan Church, Gideons International and the Eau Claire Jail Ministry.
Don was also an ace mechanic and handyman--the family’s Mr. Fix-it--with endless energy and enthusiasm for projects at home and in the service of others. And he was a reliable source of godly wisdom and generosity, plus an eternal romantic who could be often seen strolling along a sidewalk holding Eunice’s hand--newlyweds of just 67 years. Beyond that he was an exceptional father of three, grandfather of eleven, great grandfather of seventeen, and great-great grandfather of five.
Surviving him are his uncle, Harry Williams (Marj) of Milwaukee, WI; brother, Gary Jaquish (Carolyn) of Sturtevant, WI; son, Donald Jaquish, Jr., of Eau Claire; son, Daniel Jaquish (Carol) of Malakoff, TX; and daughter, Dawn McVea (Ian) of Arlington, TX.
Funeral service will take place at 11 am on Monday, November 25, 2019 at The Eau Claire Wesleyan Church, 2405 Keith Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701. Burial with military honors will take place at 2 pm on Monday, November 25, 2019 in the Brunswick Cemetery in the Town of Brunswick. Visitation will take place at Hulke Family Funeral Home on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2-4 pm and then on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the church an hour prior to the service.

Greenville - Mrs. Betty Anne Rupp, 88, wife of Dr. Richard Rupp, died October 4, 2018 at National HealthCare, Greenville, S.C.
Born in Huntington, West Virginia on April 25, 1930, she was the only child of the late Ted and Lillian Lucas Yoder.
Betty Anne taught in the Education Department at Bob Jones University, and also served alongside her husband Richard as he pastored churches in Chicago, Illinois, and Sylvania and Hiawasse, Georgia. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Rupp and Viki Delello (Todd), all of Greenville; two grandsons, Luke and Jake Delello; brother-in-law, Paul Hess of Taylors, S.C.; nieces and nephews, Connie Rupp, James Rupp, David Hess, Chris Hess, Debbie Treadway and Cindy Treadway. Betty Anne was predeceased by her husband Richard who died June 18, 2012.
Services will be Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at War Memorial Chapel, Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C. A private family burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
