Telemann - Concerto for Flute, Violin, and Cello in A Major, from the first collection of “Tafelmusik”
When I listen to music it’s easy for me to get caught up in the overly dramatic and passionate Romantic stuff, or the complexity of high Baroque, Classical, and Modern works, or the hypnotic drones of Minimalism or more New Age “Spiritual” works, but [like the problems and anxieties of life] I spend too much time thinking about the music, listening deeply, instead of letting it be what it is. Here is a concerto from one of three large “productions” of “Banquet Music”, by the German Baroque composer Georg Philip Telemann, here we have the wonderful layered flow of sound from beginning to end, music to feast to, to enjoy life to, and THAT should be the focus of today’s holiday. To those who celebrate and observe it, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope your day is special and filled with friends, family, loved ones, wine, food, and music.
