Ancient Necklace with Mosaic Glass Beads, from the Eastern Mediterranean, c.100 BCE to 100 CE: this necklace is composed of 30 mosaic glass beads, most of which are decorated with stylized faces
This necklace was created roughly 2,000 years ago, and it can be traced back to the Eastern Mediterranean, where it was likely produced by a Greek or Roman artist.
It consists of 29 glass beads and one glass pendant; each bead measures roughly 1.2cm (about half an inch) wide.
As the John Paul Getty Museum describes:
The beads are made of multi-colored opaque glass and are decorated with heads and floral designs. The necklace is in good condition; some beads are chipped or cracked.
The beads are all decorated with remarkably intricate details, depicting colorful geometric patterns, floral motifs, and human faces in various styles.
The pendant is slightly smaller than the beads, but it's decorated with similar motifs.
