Doodles for a Classification AU (a Littles Are Known AU [Littles being age regressors] but also people have slight varience in mental state that classifies them as either Caregiver, Little, Neutral, or Flip.)
it's canon-adjacently canon-divergent. uzi and v are caregivers, j and n are littles, i assume other characters will be revealed if i decide to post the other doodles.

For the Classification AU
Bruce: Babysitter, wide range, level 2, parent (BS-wr-l2-P). He regresses very rarely but very young, and is usually taken care of by Alfred or Clark. On occasion some of the rogues have had to take care of him for a bit, like that time Harley and Ivy found him after he got hit with a particularly bad fear gas concoction. His kids don't know.
Babs: Babysitter, toddler-kid, level 2, teacher (BS-t/k-l2-T). She regresses occasionally but usually to a teen range, and is still perfectly capable of caring for her girls (Cass and Steph).
Dick: Caregiver, infant-middle school, level 3, parent (C-i/ms-l3-P). He technically can regress, but it hasn't happened in literal years. He's very intense and protective, though he's not very possessive, he just can't stand the idea of a little being upset in any way. When it comes to older kids he's more of a fun older brother than a parent, but he's still very willing to lay down the law.
Cass: Little, toddler-kid, level 2, Quiet (L-k-l2-Q). The biggest daddy's girl of all time, and she also loves her big sister. She likes wearing diapers even though she could use the potty properly, she just likes using diapers more. Comfy.
Jason: Little, toddler, level 3, Quiet (L-t-l3-Q). Jason is a unique case in that he's technically perma-regressed to about 15, and is only ever Big when he's really pissed off. But he still feels the need to regress even further, and regardless of what age he is, he needs lots of care. He's very vulnerable and sensitive under the tough guy act, and represses his regression a lot.
Tim: Flip, toddler (caregiver), kid-preteen (little), level 2 (caregiver), level 1 (little), Mischievous, Teacher (F-tc-k/pl-l2c-l1l-M-T). He's very quiet but he likes to get into things. Not necessarily to break rules on purpose or to do pranks or anything, though he knows he's being naughty. He just likes doing things.
Steph: Big kid, toddler-preteen, level 2, Mischievous (BK-t/pt-l2-M). She likes playing little pranks on her siblings and following people around. Never stays down for her naps unless Cass is cuddling with her. Regresses to different ages depending on who she's around.
Duke: Little, kid, level 2, Honey (L-k-l2-H). He likes to hang out with Steph while they're both regressed, but he sometimes gets tired out by her antics. He prefers a calm, bright place where he can run around until he gets tired and then flop down and read for a while. Lots of warm light.
Damian: Caregiver, toddler-kid, level 3, Sibling (C-t/k-l3-S). Damian is a natural caregiver, though he hasn't presented yet, but the signs are pretty obvious. His care for his pets, the pretend games he plays, and his wish to be a doctor are all pretty characteristic of it. Rather than being a parent, he's more like the much older brother who takes his duty of watching his siblings very much. He could potentially also be a Babysitter, in which case his Little temperament would be Protective.
Alfred: Caregiver, wide range, level 2, Parent (C-wr-l2-P). Do I need to explain more? He's a dad. A grandpa. He loves them. World's Biggest Caregiver.
And bonus -
Gordon: Caregiver, preteen-highschooler, level 2, Parent (C-pt/h-l2-P). I couldn't not include him, he's literally Babs' dad. Helps out with the others too. Has probably seen Bruce regressed because he's one of the very few people Bruce trusts with that knowledge.
Your take on a classication AU would be awesome, by all means go ahead. We've been given a taste by Three Doms and A Nerd as well as your 30k fic, but to see it layed out even deeper would be awesome. But maybe that's just my love of rules and organisatiom talking
Thank you for having faith in me! And I feel that. I love planning fics. I love it so much I spend more time planning fics than writing them. It's practically the same thing lol.
I've got a few things written down (sidenote: bulletpoints get real confusing real quick when you have to code them yourself), but what concepts or questions would you like to see touched upon or answered in this universe? I would love to hear all your ideas!
more demographic polls! for the littles & flips, what is closest to your little age range? (not your chronological age!)
NOTE: if your age range spans multiple of these, just please pick whichever feels closest or you are more often! i'll have a different poll on how big age ranges are.
your little age range is closest to...
0-1
1-3
3-7
7-10
10-13

do you have any hcs for like. caregiving styles?
i wrote a bunch for this & then completely forgot to post this! here is sprout, astro, tisha, razzle, dazzle, & goob!
i may make a part two with other caregivers -- dandy, blot, ginger, bobette, poppy, and maybe teagan, glisten, rodger, scraps, brightney, flyte, cocoa, or soulvester.
🍓 Sprout (C3): Despite his blunt personality to people he doesn’t know, Sprout has an absolute soft side for littles. In-fact, he often finds it difficult to control his caregiving instincts. He spends almost all of his time in his carerspace, very rarely simply being his “normal” self – to him, his caregiver space is his normal self. He is very drop-prone, even for a C3 – something as small as not being able to see his little for a few days can cause him to spiral into a drop.

A Brief Overview -
In this world, being a little, caregiver, or flip (or any sub-category) is a biological imperative (for some, at least). Littles need to be little, caregivers need to take care of people, etc. In this world, there are roughly six types of classes one can fall into:
Little - this is one of the self-explanatory/standard ones. People in this category need to regress to a younger age (0-17) mentally, at varying levels of frequency. (Exact age can also vary.) They do not regress physically, although they may have some physical signs of regression, such as temporary incontinence or clumsiness. Generally, this classification needs to be cared for, although some may be generally self-sufficient, especially the older ones. However, they lack any natural caregiving instincts, and thus are generally not put in charge of other littles even if they're bigger. Experience little-drop and involuntary regression if they repress their regression, are put under extreme stress, or are not taken care of while regressed.
Big Sib - a Little with natural caregiving instincts/abilities. Usually regress to older ages, like younger teens. They are able to care for other, younger littles, and are generally self-sufficient, at least most of the time. If their little side is not being supported too, however (age-appropriate tasks only!) they will often break and not be able to care for themselves, let alone others. At least, if they are left like that for long enough. Experience both little-drop and care-drop (though little-drop is more severe).
Flip - the exact middle ground, both Little and Caretaker. May have some lean towards one or the other, but not enough to get classed as either Big Sib or Babysitter. Can function in either role, need an equal amount of both. May need both quite a lot, or both very little. Can experience both little-drop and care-drop.
Babysitter - Caregivers with a Little streak. Have less natural instincts than a full Caregiver and generally do not have full-time littles. (Unless they're a live-in nanny type.) Generally regress to older ages like older teens, and/or regress extremely infrequently. Their Caretaker instincts may not be as strong, but are never fully off, either. Experience both little-drop and care-drop, but care-drop is more severe.
Caregiver - another standard classification. Do not regress. Have natural caregiving instincts that allow them to sense Littles around them, if the Littles are regressed, and what they need. Need to take care of others, are almost always the ones put in charge of Littles due to their instincts. Will experience care-drop if they do not take care of someone for long enough, are under extreme stress, or are around distressed Littles without being able to help.
Neutral - this is just normal humans. Like us, they may regress or dream, or be good caretakers, but it is not a biological imperative. The average person, also generally the most common (but in the sense that while Littles, Caretakers etc make up a small percentage of the population, they are still incredibly common and accepted because that's still a lot of people).
People are tested for their classification at age sixteen, since that's when signs are generally obvious, and to help Littles who cannot take care of themselves prepare for the future and adulthood. (Littles who cannot be on their own, which is most, get government assistance if they do not have a caretaker.) This is done via a mix of personality inventories, projective tests, and genetic testing. Test administrators will also check family data for common dynamics that have a likelier chance of occuring.
As for our setting:
Heroes can be of any classification; however, it is generally advised not to have a team made up of only one class. Without a healthy balance, at least some members will go without something they need. A team is supposed to trust each other and spend a good amount of time together, so it's important to make sure the dynamic benefits everyone. The JLA is a very well known example of a team that has a very good balance. (Although some members do hide their classifications from the public, there's an anonymous schematic that shows what percentage of the team is which.)
Wayne Enterprises is one of the most well-known companies in general, but especially for Littles. Not only does WE run a free daycare and care home for Littles who need it (as well as a matchmaking/'adoption' program), they also treat every dynamic fairly in employment. Caretakers and Littles get as much time off as they need as well as a paycheck that covers anything the government assistance won't. There are special rooms in every building. They can go to the on-site daycare (either as charges or workers) and still get paid. Bruce Wayne has so much fucking money and he's not even really losing any because everyone loves him and WE products are always high quality and affordable so everyone keeps buying his shit. (The only reason he's not operating at a loss is bc Gotham means everyone still has to replace their stuff.)
Speaking of Bruce, he's publicly known as the World's Biggest Caregiver. (This is false, but no one needs to know that. The real biggest caregiver is Alfred.) Everyone knows he keeps taking in kids and Littles alike, through fostering or official adoption. Batman is also known to be a caregiver to the general public, however a few (including a surprising amount of rogues) swear up and down that they've seen him regressed. Some, when asked, will only wink and put a finger to their lips, and refuse to answer either way.
Littles, Caregivers etc also have varying sub-categories. These will be under the cut.

i know a place that's sound and safe for us, now
Knowing all of his friends – no, family – are here, content and happy and safe, soothes his caregiver instincts more than anything. He’s so, so grateful for them all – Cosmo’s soft smile as he colors, Shelly’s sweet rambling about dinosaurs, Goob’s excited grin as he starts playing with their blocks, Astro’s calm face as he drifts off in his caregiver’s lap, Dazzle’s careful watch over his own little and the others, and Razzle’s cheerful demeanor as Goob hands him blocks to hold. There really is nowhere better than here.
