⏳ Summer Goes by Fast—Don’t Forget Your College Apps!
Summer break arrives and we all breathe a sigh of relief. No more early mornings, homework, or late-night study sessions. Suddenly, the days are longer, the pace is slower, and for the first time in a while, it feels like there’s time.
But if you’re a rising senior, there’s one thing you should know: summer goes by fast.
One minute it’s June, and the next, you’re shopping for school supplies and realizing your first college deadline is just around the corner.
That’s why summer is the perfect time to start working on your college applications.
Between vacations, part-time jobs, and well-earned rest, try to carve out time to:
Reflect on your journey—what matters to you, what you’ve learned, and what makes you you
Brainstorm and draft your personal statement
Polish your activities list and résumé
Research colleges and finalize your list
Get a head start on supplemental essays (yes, they pile up quickly)
College applications take time. And more importantly, they take thought. You’re telling your story—not just checking boxes or submitting test scores. The more space you give yourself to think deeply and write with care, the more confident and authentic your application will be.
So yes, rest this summer. Recharge, read, spend time outside. But also remember that future-you will be grateful for every hour you invest now. You don’t have to do it all at once. Just start.
