Mind describing our shared classpect, the Lord of Hope? I'm sure I'm in for something good if I have the same classpect ad an SN Tech Support agent!
….Keep that optimistic attitude, you’re gonna need it.
There is no problem to explain the basics of Lord of Hope to you, despite you could find out yourself. (Seriously, why never anyone uses the Library? Libraries are source of all the knowledge!)
The Class of Lords: “Lords are the one who shape the [Aspect]” Therefore you don’t create it or change it. You just simply tell your Aspect what it should do and where it should be. (I am plainly copying that from other Lord + Aspect explanations, it is still true.)
Hope: Has the four main way, Belief, Illusion, Protection and Truth. Hope Players altogether thanks to their Aspect can take way more serious damage, both emotional and physical, before they fall apart. However… You have to be honest with yourself and admit when you can’t go on. It’s important. Because Hope often gets damaged beyond repair. Anyway, back to Hope explanation:
Hope may mean a literal hope and therefore belief. Hope players may inspire other players and NPCs and give them power just by believing in them or by believing into themselves. Or do the exact opposite. As a Lord, you cannot create the inspiration, instead you shape it (or its lack, which is harder). Lord of Hope is what makes the world spin. You must assure yourself everyone beliefs the tomorrow comes, because if they don’t, then it doesn’t come.Active Classes (such as Lord) also depend on how people believe in them. It has a lot of influence on your powers, but it is not crucial. Still, they should believe you are able to do whatever you want to do.This most obvious way of Hope is used especially by Sylphs, Heirs, Pages and Seers.
Hope is also kind of an illusion (which is depressive to say, but whatever). So causing hallucinations or foggy illusions and sometimes kind of dreams are totally a Hope thing and you can do that. However, it’s not much of a Lord thing to do. Don’t forget Lord is an Active Class, therefore you use your powers mainly for yourself in the first place. Still, it is handy to know you have such a thing as [Castle On A Cloud] or [Requiem For A Dream] in your sleeve.
Another way of interpreting Hope is bunch of lies. And where is a lie, there must be a truth too. Hope players are either a terrible liars or an excellent ones, towards others and towards themselves. But there is no in-between. Hope players often see things in black and white and there is no gray zone of actions. One perk of understanding the truth-concept of Hope early is that you find out every lie and you just know when people lie to you. The con: You learn the truth. Always. And by always I mean always. Truth is the most abstract concept and often goes unnoticed and it’s damn dangerous.Lords are very good truth-shapers. You will never be as good in pretending truth is lie and lie is truth as Transpositioners, but on the other hand, you can change what people thinks that is truth. But as I said, you have to be honest with yourself, something Hope players are often not.It has some neat buffs as [Revelation] or [Truthseeker]. the later is especially handy if you have to deal with some enemy with Mind abilities.
Last meaning of Hope is protection. That’s also why is Hope a Resistance Aspect. Hope is there to protect people. You may live up to this concept in many ways.Lords live up to this mainly by going it the first line of offense. Because the Hope’s main advantage when it comes to fight is, that it can ignore all armor and buffs.
It is funny how many things can Hope actually ignore. Hope is one of the few aspects that can resurrect a dead Player, even if the Resurrection is not a healer. You just… sort of ignore the death strong enough. Hope resists things, it doesn’t allow them to happen. It’s probably the only thing I like about Hope.
Also, some tips: Hope is easily affected by Angelight, so it’s good to have always some chocolate in handy to neutralize it. Hope gets lonely, isolated and has… Problems when it comes to actual hoping. Keep contacts with your friends, it’s very important. It is good to warn them in advance, so they don’t push you away when you are clingy.
Sometimes Lords have the feeling “I am the ultimate Active Class, I don’t need anybody else.” You do. trust me, you do.Lords can often go Player-Killer if not checked upon, so be careful with that. The fact, that you can shape your Aspect into any form you want, doesn’t mean that you should.
You may find out that Classpects are assigned to Players as a challenge. That means “I got this Classpect that fits me the least.” It actually fits you well, but on that “I hope I never have to show this side of myself” level.
Long description short: you need to keep your friends around, open up and be honest about yourself (and some antidepressants can do miracles).
