Can you give us some headcanons for Ellen when she's grown up please? I am obsessed with your Ellen fic and I REALLY want to know what she'll be like when she's about Rebecca's age. xxx
any excuse to talk about ellen, honestly! i’m so glad you like the fic!
she’s the most ridiculously independent person. like ok, they raised her that way, but when she comes to rebecca and robert and aaron and tells them she’s decided to go to university in the us, they kind of freak out a bit because its way too far.
eventually she settles on london, though, and bex can breathe a little easier because she’s not sure she could cope without her little girl within a few hours reach at least.
she was so torn between computer science and biological and chemical sciences for uni, she ended up taking a year out and working the most ridiculous array of jobs (because she loves having a good story to tell.)
ellen eventually decides to study biological and chemical science, because she wants to try and make the world a little better, and she figures the best place to start is with science and medicine development (she’s grown up hearing about her granny and how her mum and chrissie lost her so young, so sue her for wanting to find the cure for cancer all on her own.)
she loves travelling, and after uni, she jets off around the world with her best friend and tries to see as many countries as possible - bex and robert have the most insane postcard collection, most of them just signed with a “keep the money coming! ellen x” (as a joke, ofc. but also not really, because they were happy to fund her around the world adventure.)
ellen lives in germany for a while, because why not, really?
but shes a homebird at heart, so she eventually moves home to emmerdale and starts working for a major pharma company in leeds, developing new drugs. it’s kind of the coolest job in the world, and she’s got a jumble of half siblings and cousins who always want to hear about all the experiments she gets to do.
she and aaron go running together, sometimes - he’s not as fast as he used to be, but its a tradition of theirs she doesn’t want to give up.
bex bought her a massive dslr camera for her eighteenth birthday, and the year after, robert bought her an old film camera, and photography is probably her favourite pastime. she takes pictures of all sorts, her family, friends, random shots of the village and the scrapyard - she’s sentimental, at heart, and she likes having mementos of all the people and places she’s loved. her favourite picture is one she took of bex, when she was attempting to bake bread one christmas when ellen is home from uni (rebecca is a notoriously bad cook), and its just her mum elbow deep in flour and egg, the mixture in her hair and she’s laughing (bex always says its because she’s happiest, when she’s with ellen.)
her and bex are more like best friends, than mother and daughter sometimes, and its probably the best day of rebeccas life when ellen moves home to emmerdale and back in with her (and its maybe the worst when she moves out into a little cottage of her own, determined to make the rickety old house her own home.)
she’s the most ridiculously feisty, take no shit kind of person (sometimes to her own detriment, because she’s stubborn as hell) and her eye rolls and death glares are famous in the village - but secretly, she loves the dramatics and the chaos that comes with living in emmerdale.
she buys a cat and a dog when she gets a place of her own, because she’s the best of aaron and robert at times and can’t pick between loving cats and dogs more.
funnily enough, she’s also bisexual.
