            she can’t even bring herself to respond, too overcome with emotion for words to process in her mind. years had gone by, months of their separation and assumed deaths, and now? now, after all of this time, it seemed their suspicions about one another had been proven false; both of them were alive. and that simple fact made everything okay again. because it didn’t matter that they hadn’t laid eyes upon one another in eight years, or that the sisters had yet to discuss the details of their own survival stories. nothing was more important than malia, standing in front of her, arms wrapped around her tightly, eyes shining with the tears that mirror adelaide’s own stained cheeks. she’s alive. she’s alive. she’s alive.

          Her  head  burrowed  into  the  small  shoulder,  determined  to  hide  the  tears  that  made  her  voice  sound  so  choked.  It  reeked  of  weakness  &  heartache ;  the  very  same  thing  that  thrummed  in  her  chest.   ❝  I  can’t  believe  you’re  here.  ❞   The  how,  or  why  or  what... she  didn’t  care,  it  could  come  later.  For  now,  she  only  wanted  to  hold  onto  this  moment,  etch  these  feelings  in  her  soul.
