...it is also an experimental illustration as I tried out some new lighting and shading techniques (I usually “avoid” strong lighting effects, which cause my drawings to become flat and lifeless, so I want to change this and make my drawings better). I also payed more attention to the background (another thing I rarely do) making it far more detailed than usually...
I still have to improve a lot on lighting, shading and even perspective, but I’m quite happy with the result :)

Day one of cleansing bath ritual. My ancestors don’t play when it comes to helping me heal and releasing stuck emotions. To say the least, it was intense. The main image I had in my head was my Nanny giving me a bath as a kid. I use to love it when I stayed at her place and shed run a bath for me and help wash me up. She always used hotel style shampoo and conditioner on my head and scrubbed really good to get all the funk out of my scalp, humming hymnals all the while. I even remember the sound the faucet made when you stopped the water and the last little bit dripped out. And she always used a small pot to pour water over my head to rise off. Let the blood wash over me... let the blood wash over me. Then I would step out and towel off, making sure to get most of the water out of my hair since she didn’t have a hair dryer. Then throw on a giant teeshirt and read National Geographic till bedtime. I felt like that 8 year old girl today, vulnerable but egger... ready to let the blood wash over me to take this pain and anger away. So here is me, mid-cry, vulnerable, in the midst of letting all these emotions go... full unedited. Releasing isn’t pretty and it’s downright ugly.
