Setup Clear Modem as a Transparent Bridge (sort of)
Today I had a client change to clear service because there current provider (Integra) had a download cap of about 1MB.
Here I am going to show you how we set the Clear Modem and Linksys Router up to allow all the ports through. (Transparent Bridge part)
1) Login to Motorola Clear Modem. IP by default is 192.168.15.1 password 'motorola'
2) Turn off the firewall. This allows all external request to be sent to another location such as your router. (DMZ settings are next)
3) Next we need to set the DMZ address to the IP that was assigned to our router. To determine this address we need to see what the internet address of the router is and put that in the DMZ
4) Setting up a static address for use with Remote applications (Remote Desktop, Cameras, Security system, etc) To do this you have a few options, but you will need to create an account with one of the service providers built into the clear modem. I have found www.dyndns.com to be the best option. Once you create an account with them you need to input all that information onto the clear modem and you are all set.
Now all you have to do is set port forwarding up on your router and all system should be good.
Using these steps I am now able to access there camera system and computers from remote location. I have also found that the best way to test the system on-site is to use a mobile phone and test with the internet service it has.
