What it feels like navigating a society full of ridiculous expectations of women. Why are magazines aimed at women 90% weight loss and beauty related? Why do we fat-shame and have runway models so thin that they are actually, medically underweight? Why do we consider some women ‘plus sized’ when medically they are in a normal weight range?
So here’s my sarcastic take on the issue, this is what goes through my mind when I am faced with the magazines that line the shelves of the stores, the adverts up and down the street advertising weight loss and perfection, and every other aspect of this obsessive and, quite frankly, oppressive model of society we seem to be running. It makes me angry, and sarcastic. (NB: SARCASM. No one could think I’m being serious that one should hide themselves in ski gear at the beach if they don’t have what society considers a so-called ‘beach body’, right?)
