i think i know when ersatz takes place

ersatz pilot spoilers, including screenshots.

yes, i know it's ww1 but like we have a date. i did not check if anyone made previous posts. but it's probably march 12 1915

okay so! first and foremost, the date itself. we have a date, roughly. both of these screenshots come from the mess hall scene around 15 minutes in. assuming the board is updated, which it probably is because the food is up to date.

second is the year. it's probably 1915. a little later, we find munroe going to a painted-over mural and, among the papers put up there, one says "Battle in Galicia", which took place between august and september of 1914, so we can say it's definitely after that. the paper looks "new enough" to say it might still be 1915. it could be later than 1915, but that's the earliest possible date.

i dunnaur i heart ersatz so much there are so many tiny details in it that ill probably open up in another post because i did a frame by frame instead of doing work. like how we can kind of figure out munroe's first name.

I can and will kneel and kiss their shoes while offer up crumbs of fanart and headcanons to show my loyalty to their existence upon this cruel world. I will embrace them in the night and give them meaning and life, allow them to feel whole for a moment before I tear their life apart limb by limb. Strip them of their humanity, smear anguish and pain upon their innermost soul and tarnish their cognitive function. I will rip apart what they love and make them watch as I stitch them back together in an indistinguishable form of what they once were. I will show her characters sadness and desperation beyond the human comprehension to know, I will isolate them from every emotion other than fear and desolation. For they too must carry this burden of life upon their shoulders and triumph if they so wish to survive.

And then I make them kiss n hold hands n cuddle n date n do cutesy picnic dates!!!

every single time lex is on screen his pupils are dilated . i know this is definitelt aggression but it could also be the other thing (gay)

im jus tlargely surprised there isnt more art of them that ive seen. yes i know that lex luthors character is Entirelt Consumed by Hate And Envy but like damn !

i really enjoy "What I'm about to do has not been approved by the Vatican." because it sounds so very important but its also true because the vatican cant approve of anything im doing if they dont know i exist

i heart my son boy blorbo who was a victim of human trafficking, escaped, adopted into an absurdly rich family, grew up with significant social anxiety (and still has it), compulsively steals (tbf i didnt make that trait he came with it), and generally has a bad time

cut to later finding out his family actively benefits from human trafficking and, when he was old enough to have a significant position of power in the family business, he promptly runs away from every responsibility he can because he doesnt feel that hes right for the job + he just really doesnt enjoy business

smth smth perpetuating a loop that he suffered through, that he continues to suffer through, even if he has the power to do something about it now because hes afraid of his family, who he thinks would turn him away if he did anything even if they wouldnt
