“Dude you asked the right guy for this job!” Jacks reached up, even had to go on his tip toes but with sufficient height and heavy combat boots, he managed to reach the pancake and pried it off the ceiling. “Yo Roc! Catch!” 

He tossed it like a Frisbee over to the Lycanroc, that jumped high enough      to catch it with his maw and devoured it in one go.

  OF COURSE , A common comment from his younger      sister by n o w , he should be used to her sarcasm or      her demeaning little statements …  but he n e v e r      takes it TOO PERSONALLY. that’s just how little sis-      ters act . L i t t l e  s i s t e r s will be little sisters , he      supposes . s t i l l  ,   he wastes no time in exhibiting     SHOCK  .  brows turn up and he looks disappointed      for a moment , and his voice is as  u s u a l  ,  in it’s      voice-breaking glory .

     “  BONNIE -!! and I can’t believe you’d say some-              thing like that -!!  ”

    EXCEPT , HE CAN . she’s been doing it since he can      remember, but they always bounce back quicker than      ever . they  M U S T  BE close , if that’s the case . he      s m i l e s to himself for a momentary second - it’s en-      dearing , r e a l l y , the way they act . he just wishes      they didn’t have to BICKER to easily  …  he’d rather      her encourage him more and in turn he’d rather be      the one that she calls a ‘ dependable brother ’ .

     WITH CROSSED ARMS , he replies softly , though     disgruntled . brows furrow slightly in disapproval .

     “  you know , i’m TRYING MY BEST to be a good           big brother -!! you should be more t h a n k f u l- ”

     IT WAS LESS stern and enforcing than he’d hoped     for it to sound , but it was the best he could muster     right now . he’s grown an incredible tolerance for     bonnie’s nonesense .

Bonnie’s words often came out much more demeaning than she meant for them to. She was a child after all - she didn’t always think about the weight her words carried. Despite how often she teased her brother, or got frustrated with him, he still meant the whole world to her - she just wasn’t always great at expressing it.

So when Clemont seemed to get upset at what Bonnie had meant to just be a casual comment, even going as far as to attempt a lecture, she was a little surprised.

Arms crossed over her chest, eyebrow raised, the child turned to face her brother.

“’Thankful’ that you can’t even keep up with me? Shouldn’t a good big brother want his little sister to be able to see a super cute rare pokemon? What if it’s gone by the time we get there, and I miss out on seeing it because you were too slow and wouldn’t let me run ahead by myself!?”

Leave it to Clemont to turn this into a bigger deal than it was - at least in Bonnie’s mind, but if he was going to insist on lecturing her then of course she was going to defend herself.

What if she couldn’t do it? What if she messes up in her performance? As if the idea of failure wasn’t enough, it would be the ridicule from the crowd watching her trip up that’d scare her the most. Hands loosely to her sides clenched tight while Serena looked out at the bay searching for answers that weren’t out there in the waters. Lost in thought she nearly flinches at the feel of a warm hand on her arm. 

Clemont? Serena blinks to clear the daze and smile at a familiar face. Ah...it seemed like he read her mind. 

    “Well I don’t know-” 

Thankfully Serena wasn’t allowed to finish that sentence when Clemont tipped her head upward to help her mock the confidence she’s suppose to have. She blinks in silence before her smile returns and her eyes meet his fondly. 

Leave it the most driven of the group to give her the support she really needed right now. To be able to make and break so many inventions and keep on creating? The amount of growth he’s taken on his quest to become a better person? He knew what he was talking about...! Perhaps it was the fulfillment making her smile soften and the moment prolong into a silence she doesn’t realize until he comes ever closer. 

Her eyes finally moved away from his azure gaze to fall on his lips when he took a breath. She’d hang onto his words if they were spoken but was instead met with a kiss. Perhaps he was close enough to feel her own face warm up intensely beneath his fingers. The chill she had earlier only deepened the tenderness between them; feeling the contrasts of the cool sea breeze against her blushing face against his own. 

Unknowingly Serena had leaned in again to catch his again for the second time. Mindful, proud and...rather sweet; wasn’t he? The way he’s come down the path together with the group? They’ve never been contemplated like this before but it felt right. All of this felt really right. Her head leans into his palm just the slightest until they part. The bright pink hue blossomed on her face lingers like their moment until Serena could pick up on Clemont’s panic.

Blinking the sentiment away, she turns a deeper red with a tiny laugh to hold back the embarrassment. 

“N-No it’s alright! I mean-...?”

How to explain what went on in the passing minute or two back there? Words couldn’t even begin to describe-! But either way she was happy to reach for his hand and hold it to be escorted to the Pokemon Center in quiet but content silence with and embarrassed but happy smile returning to her.

Believe it or not, she’s never actually gotten gum stuck in her hair – or at least, she hadn’t until now.

She asked Clemont to help because she figured that he would have dealt with a similar situation with Bonnie... or, at the very least, that he might have some Anti-Gum-In-Hair 3000 invention in his backpack.

Fifteen minutes and some shenanigans later, her hair is messy and buttery but gum-free. Clemont tries to put it back into place (he’s a good friend, Ash and Serena are lucky to be traveling with him), but Shauna brushes his hand away.

“You did enough already. Thank you!”
