Defy Media is shutting down the Beverly Hills office.

So, some of you have probably heard, some of you probably haven’t, but I decided to keep all of the current facts of the matter in one place. Defy Media- the company managing Smosh and its properties, along with Clevver- is about to shut down its Beverly Hills office, where the crew works. The following list is of all of the definite facts of the matter, though before listing them, I should stress that this is not a matter to jump to conclusions on. We don’t know how Smosh will respond, what they will do, or what will happen. Considering how big Smosh is, I’d be willing to hazard a guess and say this is almost definitely not an end to anything. Again, we’re not here to jump to conclusions; it’s probably not worth freaking out over. That being said, here’s what we know;

The Beverly Hills office will be closed, effective Jan. 2, 2019.

All employees- at least 80- will be permanently severed from the company.

Affected employees can continue working at the company and will receive full pay until Jan. 2. 

Defy had been selling its properties since March, but denied that they were looking to be bought by a larger company.

Fuck defy media

The reason I haven't written about what's going on myself is because the fact that this is even happening to them makes me so angry. I am furious at defy for doing this to them. To of course people at smosh and smosh games but also to clevver and the warp zone. They fired and screwed over so many people and it makes me absolutely sick. Fuck defy media. That being said I will follow and continue to support every member of the smosh family,of course I know that all of us are planning to do that anyway but we also need to support our smosh family; keep eachother in mind because we're all having a hard time getting through this. I love smosh and I hope they can all get through this aswell. #smoshstrong

so idk if any of you watch smosh or clevver but if you do and you don’t know the situation, their mother company shut down today and basically everyone working at and for clevver and smosh are essentially jobless.

now i am totally weirded out by this situation for two main reasons. one being the statement/video that anthony padilla put out about defy media. he had nothing but bad things to say about defy media, rightfully so. he explained basically the real reason he left the company was because of the shit they put him and his friends through and got nothing in return for it. second reason i’m weirded out is where anthony drags the company, everyone else seems fine. i mean, yeah they’re upset and they released statements about being upset but also if you notice that those statements put out by ian, joslyn, lily, etc. were all very similar. i mean to the point they used the same sentences such as ‘mother comany...closing its doors’ and ‘actively looking for a new home’.

this situation is not sitting well with me at all. i have no idea what any of this means for smosh, clevver or any and all of the people involved but there is something seriously sketchy going on.

DEFY MEDIA

I don't know why I didn't make a post about this already, but I think it's because I forgot about this blog.

ANYWAYS, fuck defy media. How do you just say "oh we're closing our doors on this day" but then just go "whoops nope we're closing RIGHT NOW. Fuck you, you're all fired" no.

So many people lost their jobs. So many people may struggle to have a good holiday this year.

I can't even express to you how angry this makes me. They under paid their employees, had so much money invested in them, yet still managed to go bankrupt. Everyone deserved so much better.

Fuck you Defy media.
