So, my cat has what they most likely think is a Feline Aotic Thromboembolism. It's not good at all. It's actually one of the worst things. Turns out what we thought were seizures were probably syncope. They are keeping him overnight to get him monitored in case he has another clotting but that doesn't mean he won't in the future. They're gonna start him on some meds. It's going to cost me $3500 to start.

Then I just don't have any idea what's going to happen after that.

I am already severely chronically ill and have another $4500 due in 3 weeks for a mouth orthopedic for my TMD that I need desperately.

Percy is still at the hospital and he's reacting well to the plavax but there's still no clear image of what happened the critical care team is checking on him until I can pick him up later but he will likely need to see a cardiologist at a later date. One of my least favorite tropes in romance is when a friend has to tell MC1 that they've been or are already in love with MC2.

This is often near the end of a story as a quick and easy way to get over an emotional hurdle or as a way to forcefully legitimize a relationship that hasn't realistically had time to grow strong, which is also very common.

Don't tell me that the characters are in love. Take the time to show me. Make me believe it.

As I work on my first attempt at writing high fantasy (albeit, for fanfiction, but I'm taking it seriously) I'm haunted by the memory of Laurie Forrest's Dyad Storm.

Imagine spending 4 books writing in depth about the horrors of trad evangelical religion and the systematic oppression of women (among many others!) within those power structures.

Only to have the big twist of your series be a magical cluster of cells. That baby had not been conceived more than 12 hours and yet it had full mage lines. FULL MAGE LINES.

Imagine devoting damn near 60 percent of the final book to assuring the continuation of a dangeous, highly sought after magical power that's built on the concept of blood purity.

Every hopeful post on the internet about just getting up and trying again or seizing life pisses me off because that only applies if you don't have a debilitating, inescapable life circumstance.

I would love to just get up and try but unfortunately I am having ungodly fucking pain that I don't even know for sure what's causing it and I don't have anymore mental or physical hope for tomorrow.

Like fuck off, I literally can't do so many of the things I used to take for granted. I'm busy having a simulated stroke that won't fucking stop no matter what I do.

I normally don't do college romances anymore because I can't stand the immature storylines, but this was free.

It's good but the only reason this takes place in college and not high school is because the author wanted them to fuck.

I literally feel like I'm listening to high school musical or Rainbow Boys again, but there's fucking. It's sweet and a decent read. I like the characters, but I'm not doing this again.

Why is rape so fucking common in high fantasy novels?

Tried listening to Silk & Steel by Ariana Nash, which while it does have gay romance as a subplot is more traditional fantasy oriented, and it's just one scene of SA after another.

I'm not calling for censorship in the least, but this is my first return to something resembling traditional fantasy in a WHILE and I'm remembering now how extremely prevalent it was in just about everything I used to read.

Mind you, I used to read fucking Anne Bishop as a teen and my 20's. I tried to read some of her more recent books set in The Black Jewels setting and it's completely unbearable now that I'm an adult.

I'm interested in reading more LitRPGs but I wish there were ones with gay protagonists.

Arcane Ascension doesn't count, no matter how many times I've seen people tote Corrin as being bisexual because of his interactions with Djin.

Corrin, in my opinion, is not gay. He's very ace coded, both sexually and romantically and has issues with physical touch and intimacy, which is its own thing, but it does play a part in how he behaves in interpersonal relationships.

This is a long winded way of saying I probably won't read Dungeon Crawler Carl, no matter how much the algo begs me to.
