Ya know if you're gonna portray Nickel as a bad partner ya gotta do it on purpose. Nickel would be a bad partner during S2 (and not the best one for most of III, I wouldn't call him bad exactly though), this is a large part of how I personally write him as well.
But like. If you are trying to make something "cute" and he's being horrid to BB or Balloon or whoever I'm gonna judge. That's not cute that is a massive character flaw (and just. A really bad way to portray an unhealthy relationship). Nickel being a bad partner IS in character and IS interesting but you need to write him as in the wrong, and it needs to be set during S2 or in between S2 & III.
(Yes this takes Balloon off the table for this but making Nickel like, genuinely a bad partner to him instead of a loving and trying but still quite flawed one kinda undermines the way their pre divorce relationship works)
Now if you make him suck post III I will assume you watched III muted well playing family guy funny clips on a different device. Do not do this. If you are going for Nickel ship fluff post III he better be treating them the way he treats Balloon III16 onwards or else what are we doing.
