what are you looking forward to right now?

Hard one! Because it's winter where I live and it's hard to get much of anywhere, a lot of what I'm looking forward to is media-related. The return of 9-11 and The Pitt, a whole bunch of fun-looking books that I have on my TBR shelf, so on and so forth. In the longer term, some visits with some beloved folks for one reason or another.

favorite month of the year and why?

May! It's my birth month, to start, and I am a birthday person, for better or worse. It's also when it starts getting properly warm for spring here, and some of my favorite early wildflowers start blooming--if I'm very lucky, I'll even get a few daisies by the end of May! Everything feels a little freer and easier to me in May, after all the chilliness of winter and early spring.

your opinion on dark chocolate

Oh, such an unpopular opinion: least favorite kind. I like my chocolate things quite sweet! (Though chocolate in general isn't my favorite dessert category, with the exception of cheesecake brownies. Like, I don't dislike it by any means! But when offered a variety of options will generally pick other things.) I'm even fond of white chocolate, which I know is a fairly unpopular opinion. But yeah, while I'll eat dark chocolate happily enough if it's around, when picking for myself I generally go for milk or way!

How slow is a slow burn?

In-story, a year is the bare minimum, I think. I think most people base their slow burn standards on length of fic, but I care more about in-story. If your fic is 100k but only takes place over 4 months, that's not really a slow burn to me unless you start the fic when they've been pining for each other for years. Length-wise, if you can make me feel the yearning in 5k, then sure, that's a slow burn for me (though my standards for that are pretty high, I think there's precisely one fic I've read that sold me on a slow burn in sub-3k). It's about density of yearning, not length of fic, as far as I'm concerned.

Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, what's your secret?

That's a resounding "sometimes" from me! Feel like weirdly I've gotten worse at it recently? Maybe it's that as my prose improves I have less idea of how much space it takes up. But I feel like I at least used to be able to go "this is an idea without many subplots to deal with, where I can probably say what I need to say within 10k" and be right about that. With 10-20k fics even these days I'm within 3k on either side of my initial estimate? It's fics that I initially go "oh, probably 20-30k" where I've been overshooting my estimates recently.
