Situated 15 kilometres from the coastal towns Riccione and Cattolica, Mondaino is perched on the crest of a hill which divides the river valleys Tavollo and Foglia, and the regions Emilia Romagna and Marche. Fortified walls and gates and a mighty fortress all bear witness to the village's past, which is brought to life every summer in wonderful pageantry. Successive centuries, too, left their mark on Mondaino: an unusual circular market place, fine mansions and churches. The surrounding countryside is still very green and peaceful—a charming area to visit in every season. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Take a Regional train from Bologna to Rimini.
