⁣ Canon Powershot SX730 HS ⁣ Taken on 14/01/2017.⁣ ⁣ Situated in northern Italy, the province of Rimini lies in the southeastern part of Emilia Romagna.⁣ ⁣ Well-equipped seaside resorts, historically-steeped borgoes and villages, gently-rolling hills just a stone's throw away from the shore and high-quality cuisine have made the Rimini Riviera one of Europe's most popular holiday spots for over 150 years.⁣ ⁣ As you have noticed on my blog, I have a soft spot for medieval towns and villages, and the Montefeltro area straddling the provinces of Rimini and Pesaro Urbino is full of fortresses and castles, some that have become top tourist attractions like San Leo, others that happily lie dormant and under the radar like Sassocorvaro.⁣ ⁣ And indulging on the gentle hills of Rimini's hinterland and built as a fortress, Montegridolfo is a 13th-century architectural jewel that is definitely worth a visit.⁣ ⁣ While I there as the day was drawing in, the rays of the sun falling on the village's main gate, 'la Porta del Cassero', it felt like time had stood still, the breeze wafting gently off the Adriatic and caressing this wonderfully restored medieval village.⁣ ⁣ Believe me, I could have happily spent the rest of the evening there away from the heavy traffic and heaving streets on the Riviera, but I had to make it to Rimini!⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ There are a number of ways to get to Montegridolfo depending on whether you're coming from Urbino in Le Marche or Rimini in Emilia-Romagna.
