So, I tried to migrate my old Minecraft Launcher save and runtime directories to my much more new computer today...
I wanted to play Minecraft 1.3.2 to make a post in it, and I figured it was about time I brought my Minecraft FR saves up to date on Lordbox, my 2023 tower PC. I was very surprised to find out that the official launcher installer wanted me to sign into the Microsoft Store before I could run the game, the same game that I used to run fine on no such foundation for many years since 2018, which was a point in time well after Microsoft acquired the game.
And there was no fucking way I was going to let Microsoft try to connect Minecraft to my "Microsoft account" at a system level like some people on Reddit were saying it did.
So, using my wits, I figured I could copy the old .minecraft and Minecraft Launcher folders from my laptop, as a workaround. Some of the way through I realized how messed up it all was and that I should give up on the official launcher and just use MultiMC. But even that was a little dire.
NOPE.
