Inktober 52 2024 - Week 23 - 'Dino'
So I have exaggerated the size of the wings but shhh...it looks cool
A Scansoriopterygidae! (or climbing wings). One of the few 'flying' dinosaurs. I love me some flying dinosaurs, but Pterosaurs (my favourites) are not actually classed as dinosaurs. Booo.
But in later life I learned of a dinosaur who had evolved a bat-like wing membrane despite also having feathers. While they probably glided over flying, it's still always fascinates me that we found a dinosaur that mimics those very early ideas of what flying dinosaurs looked like.
In other words-there was once a species that looked like little dragons. And that makes me happy. A gorgeous little creature that I hope we uncover more secrets of in the future.
