Mountain Glory as a View Beyond Peyto Lake (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the north-northwest while taking in views across this glacier valley with Peyto Lake to my front and then more distant ridges and peaks with North Waputik Mountains, Murchison Group, and the Cline Range. This is at the Peyto Lake Overlook along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park.

The Big Bend Along the Icefields Parkway (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at the Big Bend overlook with a view looking southeast in Banff National Park. I have been to this point several times on my trips to Alberta and truly love the way the mountains rise up on both sides of the highway! So my thought on composing this image was to take advantage of those mountainsides and angle my Nikon SLR camera to bring out a sweeping view, looking down this valley. I pulled back on the focal length so that it would bring out more of a wider-angle and panoramic feel to fill up the image and setting.

Evergreens and Mountains (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at a roadside pullout along the Icefields Parkway with a view looking to the north to Mount Wilson. This is in Banff National Park. My thought on composing this image was to zoom in with the focal length to have the mountainside fill most of the image while still including some nearby evergreen trees and a backdrop of blue skies to complete this setting in the Canadian Rockies.

The Earth is Most Definitely Not Flat and Boring! (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at the Peyto Lake Overlook with a view looking to the north-northwest to Peyto Lake and then more distant ridges and peaks of the North Waputik Mountains, Murchison Group, and Cline Range. This is along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. With this image, I chose to take advantage of some high ground I was located on and angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward to create more of a sweeping view across this glacial valley and national park landscape. I noticed that most distinctly, with the almost elongated look of Peyto Lake.

Spring in the Canadian Rockies (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I've been to Petyo Lake many times over the decades, but it had always been over the summer months when glacial flour brings out vibrant turquoise color. Having come from Austin and the Texas area where May weather has more of a warmer temperature with flowers and all in bloom, it was a surprise to see all the snow still on the ground in the Canadian Rockies. Then I saw Peyto Lake with more of a blue color from the still partially melted ice and snow. Beautiful! What a beautiful spring day in the Canadian Rockies!

Cloud Shadows on Mount Wilson (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: It was the shadows on the granite mountainside that drew me into this image. With the nearby green of the evergreen trees, I also found it a nice contrast of colors.

The Peaks of Mount Wilson (Icefields Parkway) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: At a rest stop along the Icefields Parkway. What I loved about this image ways the contrast of greens of the trees leaves with the granite of the mountainside. In some ways, it was if a peak through the trees to mountains beyond.
