Like some ship moments of two and poly (biggest being 5-6) but also some platonic/fun moments of a school vacation to a beautiful resort and beach during the summer?
Hey, don’t worry, we’d love to help! Here are some ideas for some poly fun in the sun (a.k.a. beach episode vibes):
You’ll find cliques in any school, but nowhere is that more clear than when a class is put outside their comfort zone somewhere new. At the beach, two different cliques compete for the best room at their resort.
The beach is fun, but also can be dangerous, especially if you’re not careful where you swim. Characters A & B (fun-loving rivals) see which of them can swim out from shore the furthest. Characters C, D, & E panic as soon as they notice the other two missing and run around trying to make a boat so they can “save them” (of course, this goes poorly).
It’s easy to forget the essentials when you’re packing excitedly, and that can’t be more true for our motley crew. They each forget some vital items (sunscreen, sunglasses, towels, etc.) resulting in them having to share (god forbid) or maybe procure them through other...creative means.
Yeah, the beach isn’t really something our group finds interesting. Finding the blind spots in the hotel’s security cameras to avoid the teachers and running an illegal gambling ring for their classmates’ supplies? Now THAT sounds like fun.
Some people don’t like the beach because it just isn’t their thing, but for Character A, the texture of sand is sensory hell and they avoid it whenever possible. For the first half of the trip, they’re distant from their group because of this, but once they’re honest about their sensory issues, the rest of the group does everything in their power to ensure Character A can still have fun at the beach, even with sand appearing seemingly everywhere.
Long days feed into long nights on school trips, but what fun is there in sleeping in your room with only one other person? To make sure they can get the most fun out of this trip possible, Characters A, B, C, & D pile into Character E’s single room for an unplanned but much-needed sleep over.
Swimming? Nah. Volleyball? Uh uh. Sandcastles? PuhLEASE. Taming a flock of seagulls through purposeful training to bend them to the groups’ will? Uh...YES?!?!
As you see with every beach episode, there’s always a final sunset heart to heart (to heart to heart, in some cases); it’s important to recognize that trope and address it in some way, even if it’s in a parody format.
