Here are most of the GUI and terminal interface shots I got from the new TADC episode. It's great when media puts effort into getting the details right - one of the reasons I loved Pantheon, with their throwaway computer shots with Python AI code. It 's not every day that you see Common List Processing Language referenced in media these days! CLISP is a variant of the Lisp programming language family, the second oldest higher-level programming language. Very strongly influenced by Alonzo Church's Lambda Calculus, and a ground-breaking language whose influence is felt even today. As a language it's very versatile and is easier to do metaprogramming - a technique to allow programs to treat other programs as their data. Can certainly see that being plot relevant! Topically, also one of the first main AI programming languages! The more modern variants would be Haskell or Clojure for those interested in some fun languages to learn! Coincidentally CLISP is the first language I actually truly used to self-teach programming back in the day. Even more reason to love this show!

CLISP

So I wasted my time tried to compile CLISP on Windows. It was a fun experience. I did it because I was depressed, and wanted to waste some time.

I learned quickly on how to compile, where to put headers, libs, dlls, tweaking Makefiles, using Cygwin and MSYS2, and a bit about Lisp in general.

I did waste a lot of time, but wasting time is good for health.

Oh and I do have binaries, but I am too lazy to post it online because of GPL requirements. Maybe if someone is willing to pay me..

The whole thing is 2.8M 7z, or 5.5M uncompressed. Very impressive

CLISP supporting libraries need maintainers, too

Jörg Höhle: "it seems to me that part of the difficulties with compiling, packaging and obtaining clisp stem from the core libraries that it uses, namely libffi and esp. libsigsegv. Both were created by Bruno Haible decades ago and both are in need of a maintainer."

CLISP needs maintainers

Jörg Höhle writes: “[...] we're looking for a maintainer, i.e. somebody who has time to donate to assess patches, test and build a new release. It would be nice if somebody younger than us, the old guys, who have been with clisp for over 20 years, would jump in and care.”

clispコンパイル

なんとなくclispを触れてみました。と思っていろいろ調べたのですが、どうも思っていた以上に神の言語らしく、Hello worldレベルの例のあと聖典ドキュメントの紹介ばかりで、なかなか一歩上がった例が見つかりません。 どうも神の言語を習得せんとするものは聖書SICPを終えてS式をマスターしていること前提で、あとは仕様書をみたら応用できるべきらしいです。 凡人は凡人らしく一歩一歩ガイドされた階段を上がるべく、すこし応用を含めた例を書いてみます。 「ない」と言っているのではないです。「少ない」のが問題だと考えます。 ちょっとはGoogleに引っかかるくらいの数の例があってもいいのでは。 前置きはこれくらいで、clispに触れた動機はpythonより速いらしいと聞いたからです。 実際インタプリタの状態でも速い気がしましたが、どうせなのでネイティブな実行バイナリを吐かせようか。ということで、hello worldの実行ファイルを作る例 http://ecls.sourceforge.net/new-manual/ch32s06.html http://cl.cddddr.org/index.cgi?%BD%E8%CD%FD%B7%CF%3A%BC%C2%B9%D4%A5%D5%A5%A1%A5%A4%A5%EB%A4%CE%BA%EE%A4%EA%CA%FD を参考に、コマンドラインの引数を扱う方法を調べました。 まずインタプリタとして。 aisatsu.lisp

となります。実行すると

これをコンパイルすることを考えます。ここでひとつ処理系の話。 今の状況として、プログラムに不慣れな人がLINUXで一番安牌らしいUbuntuで、とりあえずGUIなパッケージマネージャを使ってインストールすることを考えます。すると、common-lispで有名なものとして

がありますが、おそらく何も考えなければclispになると思いますので、ここでもその話をします。 閑話休題。上のURL先を参考にすると、呼び出す関数を:init-functionに渡すとそれがC言語でいうところのmain関数として扱われるそうです。ということはそれの引数というのは、lispの普通の関数の引数見たく、

とするのが自然な発想だと思うのですが、これをコンパイルし実行すると

とエラーになります。 よく考えると、コマンドライン引数はclispランタイムから見るとやはり外部の変数(ext)では、とも考えられます。となると、コマンドライン引数のとり方はそのままでよくて、 aisatsu.lisp

としてみます。これをコンパイル＆実行してみましょう。

うまく行きました。 なお、ninja slayerを渡すと(ninja slayer)とリストなので、slayerをとりたければ (cdr ext:*args*)だとリストの(slayer)が返ってきて文字列として使えないので、

(car (cdr ext:*args*))

としましょう。
