Being a car guy is falling so ridiculously in love with a car that you find every excuse you can to drive it, even when it gets 13mpg and drinks a quart of oil per month.
It’s parking in a parking lot miles away from the door to make sure no one dings it.
It’s looking back at it and smiling for a second after every drive.
It’s annoying all of your friends and followers on social media with endless posts about it.
It’s knowing every single thing wrong with it, but loving it anyway.
I’ve never loved driving anything more than this 22 year old, beat up, old Merc. It’s the reason I don’t like low mileage, showroom quality cars. I respect them, but I’d rather have a high mileage shitbox that I don’t have to feel bad about putting the mileage on. Cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed, and you can bet your ass I enjoy every mile behind the wheel of this thing.
And that’s on being a car enthusiast.
