i think todd genuinely wants dirk to have more than one friend and having good people in his life, so he isnt that jealous of dirk having meaningful dynamics with others. now, dirk wants that for todd too but i think hes a bit funny about it and worried he might get replaced (he wont)

Overall I think the rowdy 3 cope with sadness the same way they deal with all emotions- destruction and chaos. Put their pain onto something else. But to get specific:
MARTIN
he’s calmer than the other rowdies, due to already being an adult (a young one) when he was bought into the blackwing (so had a childhood and wasn’t isolated) however, I think he grew up in a ‘boys don’t cry’ environment that continued into BW, so he’s not great with handling his own sadness. He smothers it with anger at the world (go on. Hurt it.)
He bottles up his own sadness- cant be weak for others- but maybe in those rare moments where they are calm he’s a little wistful
GRIPPS
not great with coping with sadness, like the rest of them. He gets more upset by being sad, which makes him even more sad- so he prefers to dismiss it, focusing on something else. Can’t get upset by the thing if you don’t think about the thing!
Its not that he never denies the sadness, he’s pretty unapologetic with crying, although he doesn’t cry that often- doesn’t like how tears feel. Feels weird
if not breaking shit, he copes with painting his nails by the time theyre painted he’s usually feeling much better
CROSS
also doesn’t know how to handle being sad (theres a theme here asdfghjkl;), he tends to look to martin as a way to know how to handle it. Doesn’t cry, usually gets even more loud and rough. Sadness is the bad kind of rush for him, stresses him out and theres too many bad emotions and he hates it. Copes by well, hurting inanimate objects as they all do. Has the highest energy when expressing his upset than the other rowdies
VOGEL
weirdly hes the opposite- rather than high energy, he just kinda stops. Super quiet, almost lethargic. He doesn’t speak- or gives short answers. The rowdies don’t really know how to handle It, but they usually give him space (but still keep an eye)

idk if theyre headcanons if theyre just like general opinions (todd wasnt wrong for being angry in 1x07 or 2x07 ect)
- but i will die on the hill that todd isnt savvy on sexuality and gender and things like that. that man was not soul searching until post s2 and he doesnt know most the terms either
- amanda would never have kids or settle down (and she isnt trying to be a good person just trying to get shit done)
- martin rowdy3 is not 35 hes like late 40s
- every character imo can be switches/vers (this is just a general hc have a preference sure, why restrict yourself yknow)

todd brotzman- flawless perfect. he wasnt actually my fave when i first watched the show but he grew on me especially after writing 20k fic. but just i think hes so interesting and so complex. such a great character. i love his arc and dynamic with the characters and his development
emmet- fave pokemon character kinda rotates cause theres like a million of them. i think emmets fun and weird (i like him especially in the manga) its funny being a submas fan since like 2011 and now theyve had such a major resurgence. i love characters who seem mean but are actually very friendly (aka ingo the other brother) but characters who seem very friendly but are actually kinda cunty are peak too asdfghjkl; (i know he isnt that mean but he is intense)

Todd’s never handled boredom well. He’s never handled anything well, and everything’s becoming so blurred that he’s not even sure if what he’s feeling is boredom.
He’s so sick of this. He doesn’t know what to do- is this just his goddamn life now? He hasn’t been to work in days. Weeks? Probably been over a month’s work of non-working. It’s pointless- it’s not like he gains anything from going there, and he doesn’t want to go there. The crime scene has him entirely desensitized, which… makes the part of him that’s should care about that, feel slightly put-off.
But he also doesn’t care about the blood and guts. He’s seen so much.
And, no matter how hard he tries, he can’t escape Dirk.

love friedkin tbh! not really an apologist of him or anything, i like that hes a dumb (sometimes) antagonist but not totally irredeemable.
hes an interesting antagonist (tbh dghda does write fun ones). fascinating character tbh, he comes across as dumb (and he is) but also disagreed with riggins actions and vocalised it (which was when i was like oh... hes not just a joke character ok)
hes easy too manipulate, but good with a gun and killing, but also doesnt want people to experience the things he does, and hes also the only guy at blackwing who refers to the blackwing projects by their actual names (and not in a manipulative way like priest did. like he just calls dirk dirk. and martin as martin cause thats their names) he can be senseless with cruelty, but also gains perspective of yknow maybe we shouldnt kill innocent civilians? hes a guy of contradictions as several dghda characters are

Nowadays, she gets to be more someone, rather than assigned something. True, she still needs to figure the someone part out, but that’s her whole thing.
It’s a little harder than anticipated; working with a complete new slate isn’t easy- nothing to go off of. Well, aside from wanting to be a detective- that part is well and truly covered. But she has no name, no clothes (these ill-fitted stolen ones absolutely do not count). No company. She shudders, rubbing her arms.
Let’s start with the name. That feels like a good starting point, a good way to kickstart the whole bonding with people thing. Everyone has a name and she’s a part of that everyone.
