Hello and welcome to another segment of my ass deciding I can do something I've never done before and proving that I'm indeed correct!😂

in today's segment we have imbrodery.

my experience with embroidery before this includes: one time when I was 15 and embroidered the words yes and no on the sleeves of two jackets and hated it, and one single patch (again, only words, with simple stitch.)

This is a throwback post. I’m trying to get some old photos and topics out of my phone and my head.

This is a Halloween outfit I threw together in about 4 hours (shopping time included) for a party. I was and am still rather proud of how it turned out so I wanted to share it on a platform I feel will appreciate it.

I was a lady pirate and the costume was a mod podge of things I threw together. I’ll list them where and how I did it and then I’ll try to find Amazon dupes for anyone interested. Let’s start at the top.

Hat: A basic spirit Halloween pirate hat with lace trim that my sister tied a bow around using a length of red tulle.

Shirt: I don’t remember what brand or anything this shirt was. It was like a rayon button up number with the ribbon to make it a 3/4 sleeve.

Waist Cincher: Another spirit Halloween find. It was VERY cheap looking. But it did the job.

Skirt: This was my favorite part and the piece we put the most work into. It was a prom/hoco dress I got for cheap from a local thrift store. We cut the top off and hemmed it like a high waisted skirt. And then sewed the flounces? Gathers? Into the skirt at different locations to give it lots of volume and to show some leg.

And then some net tights and black boots of your choice. Hope someone gets some enjoyment out of this post.

I altered a jacket to sorta make Janus/Alvin’s over the weekend plus a few days. It’s fun to wear lol.

Actually let me share with you guys my vest journey so far. I’m teaching myself fashion design and clothes altering seemed easier than trying to make a piece of clothing. Plus I’ve always wanted a dope vest to wear to shows.

First I cut the sleeves off of a denim jacket. The edges are kind of eh but I’ll figure it out. I want them to look distressed tho so I’m thinking maybe sandpaper? What happens if you sandpaper fabric? We’ll find out.

Then I mixed some neon green paint with fabric medium and painted some nice goo on it. UV reactive goop.

Then studs and rhinestones! The studs didn’t come with instructions so at first I was using a hammer? Thank god Jojo told me that you were supposed to use tweezers cuz omg.

Then I took an awl and stabbed at it a bit so I could add ribbons. Had to make temporary aglets out of tape to get them to feed. Also rhinestoning is tedious af so I’m taking my time.

Where we’re at now is that I’ve written FIGHT under the collar w fabric paint markers. The green is fluorescent.

I still have a long way to go but I’m excited.

My jacket sleeves were fleaking, so i painted a jean scrap, realised it wasn't long enough, added skeleton fabric from an old dress and tadaa!
