D.I.Y. Cut out Sweatshirt With Flowers✿

Take a look at this affordable and cute D.I.Y. design inspired by Christopher Kane's jeweled sweatshirt from SS14 pret-a-porter collection. But, instead of using embellished jeweled flowers to decorate the shoulder cut out, faux leather flowers where used instead.Check out this tutorial to see how to create this same design.

 What you’ll need: 

Soft color sweatshirt

Faux leather (or leather) pieces of different colors

Scissors

Card

Pen or pencil

Needle and thread

Set the sweater on the table with the front part looking at you. The sleeves are folded so when cutting out the shoulder it will be symmetric. Mark the area to cut in pencil and cut up.

Now is time to draw the flower shapes on a piece of card to create the templates to cut the leather flowers. The ones on the pictures are the ones I created. Cut the templates and use them to draw the flowers in the reverse of the leather pieces. I've used faux leather from precious DIYs and leather pieces of old boots and bags that I tend to cut and keep for possible future projects like this one.

When all the flowers are cut, sew them all over the edge of the shoulder hole; a cross-shaped stitch in the center of each flower is enough. Add to every flower a scalloped circle in the center to create a nice composition. This project is easy but it requires patience because it takes time to cut all the flowers and sew them. Anyway, the result is beautiful and worth it.
