the amount of instruction in figure drawing classes varies, though ones with rigid instruction rarely worked for me. it was my more lax class that was my best one (cont)

in my opinion a good figure drawing class is purposefully loose because its supposed to let you realize how anatomy/line of motion/weight work and stuff. as far as if you’re lost as where to begin drawing a figure, i could probably find you some resources on that???
That’s the thing, I am 100% self-taught with no attention paid to actual, like, process, and simply do not get certain art principles (foreshortening/perspective is a big one, I’ll see tutorials where all the comments say that it makes it so easy to understand!! and I’m just like lol wtf is this even saying). Drawing from life is something I have tried, but I cannot wrap my head around it. So all the advice of ‘just draw from life’ is worthless to me because everyone who says it seems to already be fairly comfortable with doing so.
