I think this is odd but maybe it's trying to be a therapeutic. The movie starts off with a feel of making us think that this would be a a story of a aging almost spoilt star trying to get back into the limelight. But the story isn't that. It's about death and rebirth. Death of a friend who launched a woman's career. Unfortunely Maria is asked; almost gently forced to star in the same movie that made her a star but in a different role. Not as the 20 something year old but a 40 something year old. As she rehearses this character she has to play, she's reminded of the grief that came with it. The lost of a friend who originally played the role. The uncomfortable feel of thinking this role she has to play comes with a curse. I will admit at times it can be quite confusing. Mostly the scenes where Kristen Stewart is on her own,the scene with the car and also when she mysteriously disappears when they get to the mountain.
