the two men do not have many occasions to talk to each other, and the few times they do is only to talk about Rowan’s daughter. Such conversations are brief, made of a handful of words uttered in half-enlightened rooms, because at the end of the day they do not have much to say each other. Things would not be any different if it was Moira to talk to the guard, at all: for some time she has been talking about dismissing Jean, since he seems to let the girl escape instead of keeping her inside the house, but Rowan refuses to do that. Whatever his wife’s suspects are, Jean always ends up bringing Chris back home, which is what really matters. Of course if the situation is to become unacceptable he will intervene, but he does not think it is necessary at the moment.
It is always Rowan to call the guard in his office when he has to talk to him, therefore he is rather surprised to see him appear willingly ( although that emotion does not show on his face ). Golden eyes, the same as Chris’, scan the figure in the doorway for a few seconds, enough to make anyone feel uncomfortable, then he speaks. “Jean.” His voice is calm, almost toneless, a voice Chris has known since her early childhood. “Is there any problem?”
