Wip! Rancid fool :o]
I think Wes should be introduced to Momus shortly after they beat their first Bishop. Since it would also go to show Momus' actions beginning to destabilize reality due to the bishops being in a state of limbo. That and it gives an excuse for Momus to have Wes early and not have everything revealed to him.
I like to think that when Momus tries to read Wes' thoughts they're in french. Though Wes, due to being in the constant for so long, has a sixth sense for magical anomalies so he is able to notice when Momus is reading his mind. The only reason I think Wes would have this sixth sense better than the others is because he is always listening rather than speaking so he would be able to hear magic so to speak.
That and because Wes has unused dialogue in DST for the play which is in French and he admits to being flattered that someone would read his thoughts. That furthers the idea that the crown can't translate languages so even the crown doesn't know how to speak French and is terrified that it can't understand the French Mime.
Then again there's no doubt in my mind that Wes, like the others, would be able to commit various warcrimes. I also think Wes would introduce concepts like balloon animals to Momus and help make the Clurch even more of a circus. Though granted, due to the language barrier for thoughts, there's going to be a struggle for Momus to understand concepts that he has no idea what they are.
YEYYDYSSSS YEYSYSYYEYSYS Wes's unused dialogue is one of my favorite little tidbits of don't starve trivia, especially with the little "I'm flattered :)" at the end of it AUGH Wes is such a cutie pie....
BUT YES ABSOLUTELY I think 100% Wes would increase the amounts of silliness and joy at clurch, despite a language barrier. Though if the rest of the cast is there, I'd say warly could be a great messenger pigeon of sorts for translation reasons!
I cannot wait to see how Momus goes from a terrified cinnamon bun looking clown to a nudist Eldritch horror with a circus church. I imagine things get wild at times. Also how down bad are Kallamar and Momus for one another since you haven't fully opened up that relationship yet.
I GIGGGLLLEEEE WONDERFUL WONDERFUL STUFF I like to think the shift in behavior was slow and gradual, so at first Momus tried being patient and kind. Buuuuut dealing with the crippling identity issues that come with being a glorified meat puppet + the hassle it is wrangling followers together.. yeah it drove him a bit nuts!
AND OUGUGUUGH I'VE BEEN THINKING I'VE BEEN PONDERING ON IT Momus seeing so much of his past self in kallamar's cowardice, while also relating to his almost cocky behaviors at times.. Kallamar probably is the only bishop he was able to empathize with right off the bat! So it sort of was a slow climb from enemies, to sort of on good terms, to enemies again for a while, to eventually finding a weird comforting ground in each other to #smooching it out eventually
(I cough I still have much to ponder on the itty bitty small deets and such but I rotate this buffon and dazzling squid in my mind so much)
I like to imagine that Momus went out of his way to make a ritual specifically to make Narinder permanently have clown features baked into his very existence. His skin and fur have permanent clown makeup in them so he can't get it out no matter how hard he tries. Any time he tries to wear non clown clothing it turns into a clown outfit, but reverts back after he takes it off.
Truly divine comedy is inescapable comedy baked into every facet of your life.
That is Narinder's punishment. Unable to escape the clurch's dress code and comedy.
I JUST SAW THESE OUGUUGUGGGHHH MY GOD YOUR MIND DUDE THIS IS SO METAL ACTUALLY AUUGUGGGHHHH Momus plays the cruellest form for comedy on narinder for such a deep set betrayal, momus believes its perfect justice for the crime of trickery!
Does Momus have a backstory? What was their life was like before being sacrificed?
SORT OF!! It's a bit messy but I've had ideas!!!
I like to think Momus in his past life was apart of a circus troupe of lambs what were beacons of light in very dark times, vowing to bring joy and ease to anyone who'd stick around for their goofy antics!
Their circus was the tightly-knit family they never thought they'd have :o]
So after being sacrificed and being told to start cult stuff, clurch was born! Clurch being a massive collective carnival is also a way for momus to relieve that familiar comfort they once had long long ago ;o]
The control freak tendencies come from a place of feeling utterly powerless.🫀
An idea for the clurch/lh
Instead of "the clergy", it's "the tomfoolery"
Just a lil silly thought :3c
WAIT YOUR MIND........ THIS IS SO PEAK YESSS YES FAT STAMP OF APPROVAL CORRECT YEYSYSSSSS >:o3C
Woolhaven is most certainly very fun. Though it is so much in terms of lore that it makes you sit down and process it... As long as you don't get distracted by your bad choices.
YES IJ MY GODDDDD DUDE THE AMOUNT OF LORE JAM-PACKED IN IT HAS ME BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS WITH IDEAS AAGHHHH Momus is certainly having a time wrangling clurch and making sure everythings in one piece :'o]
Momus I honestly think having the DST cast should be canon, but they get them over a period of time before woolhaven. Mostly as a way for us the readers to get to know Momus and how everything functions in the cult. I think the cast appearing over time as a result of the dimensional tearing from the bishops being in limbo should be the canon reason they appear.
Speaking of the cast, honestly I think that they would all feel like the lands of the old faith are pretty chill in comparison to the constant. At the very least they can actually enjoy the night without Charlie stalking them. Some of them might never have seen the night sky without a full moon. It would be a sight to see.
Until they can't and Charlie starts stalking the group again.
Honestly they all would be hilarious to see in Woolhaven. Mostly because of how unfazed they would be by all but a few things. Like they would draw the line at what they have to eat.
Speaking of, imagine what it would be like for an actual cook to be a member of the Clurch. Warly would be having a mental breakdown at the things they eat. Honestly I want to see the DST characters go to the Clurch and just chill there. I also imagine all of them, save for a few, would all change in appearance to fit the world.
Woodie especially would be hilarious because he would either change species depending on the phase of the moon or be some kind of chimera.
Then Lucy, oh gosh Lucy would make Momus lose their brain for a bit. What do you mean this dude has a talking axe?!
FINALLY GETTING AROUND TO ANSWERING THIS BUT ABSOLUTELY I'm funny enough currently figuring out the entire cast in clurch atm >:o] I've got Wes so far but I'm also just biased ehehe BUT MOMUS WOULD TRY AND MAKE THINGS SO FUN FOR THE NEW GUESTS and boy would he be nothing but excited about Lucy LIKE AN AXE THAT TALKS BACK??????? Why can't theirs do that!
I also think he'd be #1 maxwell ragebaiter of the century >:o]]]]]]]
