Bribed For Company || Meredith & Lexie

Lexie had just been finishing up a few last charts she had before she began to head over to her sister, Meredith's, home. The resident looked outside the window to see it had been pouring rain by now. She hated the rain. Well, it was calming and at the same time she did like it, but she also absolutely hated it. She hated getting soaked each time she wanted to go from place to place and being her, she always forgot an umbrella. But most of all, she hated the feeling of wet hair on her back. After being bribed with cookies, there was no way she could possibly say no to an offer to see her sister and her precious niece. Not that she would have said no if she wasn't bribed. Lexie would never pass down an offer to visit. But If only it were reeses. Reeses. That's what Lexie wanted. Lexie was sure Meredith wouldn't mind if she was maybe just a few minutes late? No one would have to know. After changing from scrubs to street clothes she got in the car to make her pit stop for candy and go to Meredith's. Lex also decided to pick up some ice cream, just as an excuse incase she had been caught. Lexie went as quick as she could, soon enough making it to Mer's. Suddenly, she remembered that Meredith hated the smell of peanut butter. Hiding the reeses in her car but grabbing a few to put in the pocket of her, she quickly made her way to the door and knocked before putting her hair up in a bun since the rain had soaked it. "Meredith, hi," The blonde smiled. "And you, have you missed me little miss?" Lexie questioned to Zola with yet another smile.

How Radioactive Is Our Ocean?

The fine folks at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, a nonprofit research and higher education facility dedicated to the study of all aspects of marine science and engineering, have created How Radioactive Is Our Ocean? in conjunction with the Center for Marine and Environmental Radiation to monitor and track the spread of radionuclides released from Fukushima in the waters of the Pacific Coast of North America, as well as to make that information readily available to everyone in a timely manner.

The world's oceans contain many of naturally occurring radioactive isotopes, as well as the remnants of nuclear weapons testing in the 1950s and 60s. Starting in 2011, fallout, runoff, and continued leaks from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant added to this baseline and sparked fears of wide-ranging impacts to the marine ecosystem and human health. Despite concerns, there is no U.S. government agency monitoring the spread of low levels of radiation from Fukushima along the West Coast and around the Hawaiian Islands—even though levels are expected to rise over coming years.

Whether you agree with predictions that levels of radiation along the Pacific Coast of North America will be too low to be of human health concern or to impact fisheries and marine life, we can all agree that radiation should be monitored, and we are asking for your help to make that happen.
